Reccomend a guide and place to stay in Arlberg region, Austria

Hey everyone, my family is planning on going to the Arlberg region of Austria, ie st. anton, st. christof, lech, zurs, really anywhere around there during the week before xmas. Like the 18th to the 24th.

We want to be safe as it will be our first time in the alps, and we are from the East coast so know very little about avalanche safety. We are reading the books currently, but we know we are avy jongs who dont have the equipment or knowledge needed.

That being said we want to go off piste and try to get after some powder while we are in Austria, so we need to have a guide. We arent amzing skiers but we can handle oursleves pretty well. I am 16, my brother 18, my sister 13, and my dad, quite a bit older.

Reccomend us a guide that will keep us safe and bring us the goods!

Also any info on where to stay and where specifically to ski would be great.

    Thanks in advance!

There is a good book, written by Andy Thurner, a local mountaineering/ski guide, available: Arlberg - Off piste. It is selled in nearly all ski/sports shops in the region and covers a wide range of off-piste routes within a reach of a max 45 min hike.

There are some "must do" routes. However, usually the best snow (powder) is to be found on the northern-facing slopes of the Albona near Stuben. Also to be recommended is the Rendl area (St. Anton, opposite of Galzig-Valluga area). Good snow, easy reachable off-piste terrain and few people). Most crowds are at Galzig-Valluga. However, the week befor x-mas is usually not overcrowded.
