looking for a san diego shaper

So I am looking for a shaper that will make me a nice winter board to surf blacks, cardiff and tamarack when it gets big out. everyone i talk to tells me to just have a sharp eye or rusty board made, but i know that it is not going to be shaped by them themselves. does anyone know of a san diego shaper that makes really nice semi guns. someone that i can sit down with and talk to face to face. it's too bad but i have a feeling that custom boards are going to be a thing of the past soon.

    cheers

I've used a couple different guys over the years. I've tended to use guys who are stock shapers for Rusty with their own labels on the side. Roger Beal was my all time favorite but he left for the east coast several years ago. Depending on what you're looking for, I can provide solid recs. I'll shoot you a PM.
I should want to cook him a simple meal, but I shouldn't want to cut into him, to tear the flesh, to wear the flesh, to be born unto new worlds where his flesh becomes my key.

If you are going with one board to cover Black's, Tamarack, and Cardiff in winter, design the board for Black's. Heck a board for big day at Black's is going to be more than you need at Tamarack. If you are thinking about big days at Swami's, a board that can handle Black's will do you fine.

Disclaimer: Board length at Swami's may have more to do with paddling in as early as possible for crowd control rather than wave riding due to the high number of tankers out the peak.

I had my gun, as well as my regular shortboard made by Jeff Alexander. My brother wanted a somewhat nontraditional design and he worked with Jeff to get exactly what he wanted. He used to be down at Brown Field airport/industrial. I'm not sure if he's still there but I definately recommend him.
