Exclamation can't say I didn't see it coming...

well, my former shared hosting service, endore.com, is now out of business. No official warning, no refund, nothing. I haven't had a response to my technical issues in a while, and their homepage went blank a few days ago, so I backed up everything I had online (including all the pictures ya'll have uploaded) yesterday, and it's a good thing because now the whole thing has disappeared.

    Go figure.

The search is now on for a new host I can afford... fun fun fun

timeline of a typical backpack post:

0:00:01 - read a post that is full of crap and/or seems like a good one to reply to
    0:02:00 - start typing reply
0:12:00 - look over 10 paragraph reply and begin editing
0:20:30 - cut reply down to 6 paragraphs, feel the need to cross reference with sources
0:45:15 - cut out some redundant sentences, add links to relevant sources, and spell check the latest version
0:45:16 - begin wondering if the post is really worth posting
0:45:20 - move on to some other homework/email/im/websurfing activity
1:10:30 - find reply still waiting to be submitted
1:10:45 - decide that all the reply will do is encourage stupid replies due to misreading of the post, thus necessitating the clarification of the reply an infinite number of times and leading to a lack of desire to continue reading replies in the thread
1:10:50 - close browser, deleting reply

I'm going to dispute the charge with my credit card. That's ridiculous.

Well, I still have all the MDF files locally here... not your videos, etc, but the layout and content from the main site. If/when I find a new host I can just re-upload everything, change the nameserver info, and it should work.

And yea, you should definitely contest the charge.

Thank the lord. You rock BP. I will contest the charge. The really shitty thing is that all my sponsorship materials I sent out have links to see promo videos and stuff online. That is now gone and I look like a dumbass if people go looking for it. I guess I make the links match the old ones, but they'll be down for awhile. And if you've got the TMDF files I've got the rest. Sheesh. I just about came unglued.

Let me know if and when you find a new server. I'll sign up an account as well so you're not burdened with those files.

Just dropping out like that is just plain evil. so weak

If you want in the mean time. I'll get with my partner and we can create a page for you on my site. Or just put it on the maggot photo page I have. It would be a temporary fix for you but it could get you buy untill he gets a new host. (yes I can run video off it it)

Oh and Backpack. With that Webcentre webpro hosting. It's all your own domain. Unlimited use of space.

I require PHP4, Perl/CGI, and MySQL for all my stuff to get back up and running without significant modification. I was also hosting about 700MB of files at last count... I can definitely get that down, but I'll still need at least 500MB of space. In the meantime, though, I could use a cheap filler server for a month while I'm looking for a replacement, even if it will only host static files.

Any more info on your host? You can PM me if you don't want to discuss details here.
