Jeez you surfers.....wish all these storms would hold off for two months before starting!!!!
That would be major stoke!!!! Would be a great scene....our liar_in_state fearless leader pledging instant relief while skiing community conducting nightly bonfires appeasing Ullr to bring it on!![]()
Being a surfer, especially on the east coast certainly has its moral dilemas. Last year yielded some great surf, and after my own trip to New Orleans to help I was even more confused.
BUT, I can at least feel morally comfortable with this storm as its out to sea (Bermuda should fair ok) and shouldn't aversely effect anyone.
Now if the winds would just go west![]()

Tonight, tomorrow morning, tomorrow night, Wednesday morning, Wednesday night... makes 8 hour "work breaks" during the midday seem justified.

Summary: While starting smaller than expected this morning, today's waves are still expected to grow fast in the afternoon. Beginners, if out at all, will need to seek sheltered/small-waved coves (i.e. breaks facing the "wrong" direction) so they don't get caught out in waves bigger than their abilities. On Tuesday EVERYONE will may need to seek sheltered coves (beginners will need to be manning cameras safely from shore) and everyone will need to use EXTREME CAUTION. On Wednesday waves will still be good and winds will be turning NW (!) and lighter. Waves will be smaller (but cleaner almost everywhere) but beginners should still use some caution. On Thursday a few leftovers are still possible (though there is some doubt). By Friday there should be only traces left. Saturday looks flat as does Sunday.
Tropics: Florence, now a hurricane, continues on her track towards Bermuda. In addition, as Florence continues northward into a high pressure system, a very strong pressure gradient with strong NE winds is expected to develop. Think of Florence as a Noreaster with a strong western quadrant (mostly N to NNE winds) bigger SE swell component (secondary strength in the easter quadrant swinging to the north as Florence passes Nova Scotia). TD7 has formed in the mid-atlantic."

Sloppy on Monday and Tues in Cocoa. Luckily Sunday was fun with head high sets. Tomorrow winds change direction. Should be excellent to epic at Spanish House
that's my old stompin grounds - picnic tables to RCs usually, with the occasional trip down to span house and the inlet.. damn i wish my FL vacation were this month instead of next.Originally Posted by whatcomridaz

Picnic tables are a little far north for me. I spend most of my time at the O-club or Pineda Rocks. I'm not sure it counts as my stomping ground, I'm only down there when there's swell :-)
A little stoke from 2nd light.

hopin for an october swell...
Just got out of the water up here in Maine. Good size, light offshores, and thankfully the crowds have thinned out due to some size. Buoy at 8.9 ft at 11 sec, all swell. About time. The last couple days - aside from last night - were a bit disappointing. Go get some while the gettin' is good. Then of course there is Gordon behind Florence... (fingers crossed for more swell)

Higgins? I was there yesterday morning, evening, and then again this morning... last night was the best so far. Yesterday morning was a bit surprisingly small, but they were clean and spaced enough that they didn't look as big from shore as they did from the water. Lots of power in the waves last night, even when they were only shoulder to overhead.Originally Posted by peterslovo

Yes, Higgins. It was big and powerful this morning - best its been all swell and the size limited the # of folks out which was nice. Was there last night too, but paddled away from the crowds and went exploring and found some good reefs.Originally Posted by Yeti
Going to check Scarborough shortly. We should meet up some time.
