    NSR: computer HDD data recovery?

Since sum uh yew mags seem purdy good wif dese here computer thingys...

My hard drive at work apparently conked out. The IT guy hooked it up to another computer and said that while it still spins, the computer wont recognize it. Hence, its shot. I dont trust the dude--does that sound right? He also said data recovery starts at about $350. All I had on there were some photos from TGR, Ridemonkey, and some project lists for work so its not a big deal, but I wouldnt mind having them back...

Off to go backup my personal computer...

does it make a lot of clicking sounds after the startup sequence? if it does, then do a search for hard drive failue freezer recovery. it's a trick i did and saved about 75% of my data. if it's not....yah, hd recovery is really expensive. probably more than $350, more like $750-$1k

Yeah put it in a plastic bag in the freezer overnight and have you IT dood try it again. You don't work at the MPD do you?
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.
