Mighty Mouse and Fox Creek Cabin TR 9/2/06

This is a heads for the Bozeman Mags and anyone who might go to this cabin.

We left the trailhead of south cottonwood canyon headed for the fox creek cabin early saturday morning. Making great progress with heavy packs we arrived at cabin around 2pm. Unlocking the cabin door, we saw the symptoms of mice that had been inhabiting the cabin. Reading through the cabin registry,we found that the cabin has had a chronic mouse problem for the past couple of year. We spent the rest of the afternoon outside on the deck letting the cabin air out. Around 9pm we set up the beds, and tryed to sleep. After an hour we heard mighty mouse and his crew starting to move throughout the cabin. Both of us attempted to ignore all the mice running around the floor of the cabin and underneath the cabin. Around 2:30am one of the mice decided to crawl up onto my bed and make his way right up to my head. At that point I woke up and smaked him of the bed. Ten minutes later we had our packs loaded, and the cabin cleaned out and got on the trail. We walked all the way back to the car by the light of our headlamps.

I won't be going back any time soon.

We found this about half way to the cabin, It must not have survived the winter.

dude, you ever heard of hantavirus? those mouse infested forest service cabins should be avoided at all costs. it's ridiculous that the FS leaves bedding in the cabins. we went up to one in the north end of the crazies a couple years ago and were damn glad we had tents.

single mouse in our house, running around the heating vents. landlord's got the exterminators coming next wednesday. i definitely know what it feels like, sitting awake at night with a mouse running around behind the walls. if i were in your place i'ld have left much earlier.

    something else familiar:

edit: typos, and some more context
