Any Maggs work for Geico? Sure could use some help...

Any Maggs work for Geico? Sure could use some Maggot help right about now....my car just got hit bad a few hours ago up here in Mammoth Lakes right after getting in town (great welcome) and I am already getting the raw no lube F'ing and run around from Geico. Luckly i am ok (other than the jitters and mental trauma) but the rear drivers side of my exploder is properly fucked big time.

Thanks in advance for any help or wisdom,
    Ryan

Hey Ryan, sorry to hear about the crash. I do not work for Gecko but I'm an independent auto damage appraiser. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions. I work on the opposite coast but I might be able to answer some general questions and get you moving in the right direction.

    Thanks MRW,
The person that i dealt with didn't even say a thing about getting the damage assessed or apraised or evaluated. In fact after describing the situation leading to the kabaam (a long windbag of a tale that I am obviously leaving out at this time), she said that they were fileing this as me being at fault and making that final. Which seems really F'd up since they have yet to see or hear any details or info from MLPD and the MLPD did not say anything about this to me. I mean shouldn't they at least look at the report or the car to get the full story before passing judgement???

    Were you cited?
I think that the human mind is unique among all other forms of life in that it can spontaneously create unique thoughts and provide unique behaviors. Instead of rewarding that uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity.

Obviously too late for your situation, but for anyone else I'd strongly advise against Geico. My wife does a lot of work involving insurance claims and she says that Geico is notorious for fighting tooth and nail to NOT pay out.

It makes sense if you think about it. How can they advertise and sell policies so cheaply if they are actually paying out claims.

Hope things work out for you Gebster and good to hear you weren't injured.

I've always wondered how they could afford to advertise constantly. More than any other ins. company by a longshot. Now I know.

    A couple of questions

    (1) Are you insured with Geico or are they the adverse carrier?

    (2) Have you seen the police report and is it in your favor?

    And some quick advice

Do not speak with anyone other than your own carrier about the accident

If Geico is the adverse carrier, notify your own carrier and let them deal with it.

Pick a good body shop and let them negotiate the collision damage amount.

relax and don't let it ruin your weekend. It's only metal

I used to have Geico for years of safe no-claims driving.
Then I totalled my truck on an icy road.
Then they sent me a check.
    Then they cancelled my policy.
    Thanks, Gordon Gecko Geico.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I don't know anything about Geico, but I do know that wrecking your car and dealing with insurance companies is a total pain. After getting hit 2 years ago, my Subaru has never really been the same (there is a seemingly endless series of small mechanical problems that are all accident related). So the only piece of advice I can give you is that if at all possible you should get the Explorer declared a total loss.

Since no one else has asked, what exactly happened?

Back in the old days the gecko just always got phone calls from people trying to call Geico, then, all of a sudden, he's working for them. And why is he British?

Bummer dude. Sounds like it's time for a beer or five.

I hate to hijack this thread, but what about Progressive? That's who I have, and the one time I've had to deal with them, it went surprisingly smooth. It was small claim though (break in). No accidents *knock on wood*. ...any better recommendations in the insurance world?

I heard that wreck, it sounded pretty bad. I was sitting in front of Coldwell Banker when you got smacked.

The only experience with Geico I've had was when a lady smashed into my truck when it was parked in a parking lot. I have to say that I was impressed with the service I got from Geico (I'm insured with State Farm). They admitted fault and payed out immediately, not only got my truck fixed, but it is better than it was before. I think the shop actually profitted from giving me more than I thought I was owed.

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt. I saw you get out of your truck(didn't know it was you), so I knew it wasn't too bad.
