Flying into Aspen for the Summit

United just announced twice daily directs from Chicago (ORD) into Aspen (ASE) on the CR700's. This is a nice connection for anyone coming from Europe or the east coast.

In addition 10 weekly directs from LAX and 3 from SFO for the west coasters and Australians.

The biggest reason I posted this now is they just announced these last week and loaded them into the system yesterday. So right now they have about two seats per flight allotted to frequent flyer awards. The flights are selling at a premium right now, about $800, but you can still book them for 25,000 miles.
This is a really good deal and United is devaluing your FF miles again in October.
So I would book now if you have United miles!

Aspen is a nice gateway to all the summit venues, IMHO much better than Denver.

Delta has also added twice daily flights from SLC.

EGE is better than Denver, they do fly bigger planes sometimes, so sometimes it can be a little cheaper than into Aspen.

But then you either have to rent a car or take the CME shuttle @ $70 each way to Aspen.

If you fly into Aspen you won't need a car until you go south and there is a free bus from the airport about every 15 minutes.

If your in Chicago next spring and have the miles, I would book right into ASE, it's a really good deal.

I didn't take into account the shuttle. My folks like half the year in Carbondale, so it makes sense to fly into Eagle.

I will be based out of Carbondale for the summit and probably can hook up some mags with rides if they decide to fly to Eagle.
