I followed the instructions on the skilink.ca site and that's what it came out to.

why did I even consider buying used skis somewhere other than gear swap? I feel dirty.

I think seeing that hicopleter staring back at me would just wind me up and remind me that I didn't have enough disposable income while I was slogging uphill.

I know it sounds mean but if you don't mind asking: is the ability of whoring around in unaffordable cars the true reason behind your occupation?

It's acutally neon blue, with hot pink and yellow accents. Maybe the answer is a new one piece?

Tankers were dead. While they were torsionally stiff, they had no snap. They didn't like turning. I like turning.

I beleive the 180s are 8.8# per pair.
I had the 180s mounted with Fritschis. Still pretty much a touring jong, but I thought the setup was manageable. Great for shorter skins where you want a burly ski, not so great for starting in Alta and skinning up to the top of Flagstaff (or maybe I'm just slow on the skintrack!).

Anyways, buy these skis from Mntlion. He is the man and all the skis he sends are in "as advertised" condition or better. Damn good skis for a damn good deal.

Geez, how many pairs of skis does CMH go through in a season? And how come you never see Mike Wiegele skis for sale?

    Enquiring minds want to know.

CMH uses volkl and gets a custom top sheet done, so they look diff, MW uses the "heli" daddy (rather then the sugar or tele) and is usually just on the topsheet that is one year ahead of public.

Also MW orders 100-200 pairs a year, (100 guests a week) CMH orders 500+ (12? lodges and 45 guests a week)

    and now you know....

volkl has been making small mistakes with CMH over the years and rumour has it CMH are looking at other options (atomic, goode, and maybe will just stick with volkl)

the issues are cosmetic (high shine top sheet, chips, wrong tip etc) the skis have stayed intact, just sometimes don't look right.

stash: CMH has 12 lodges, 50 skiers/lodge, (so 100+ skis per lodge) and flip the skis every 2-4 years =

we will still have some for a few years ......

    Skis for backseat dentists?

Here's something that I've been wondering...

The general impression I get around here is that explosivs are pretty much classic, ripping, stiff skis. The kind of skis a guy to take to a TGR summit and not worry about intense mocking. (Unlike the poor bastard who turns up with pair of pocket rockets mounted with low-din markers).

Anyhow, how does CMH justify these things to the out of shape dentists that (I assume) make up the bulk of their clientele? In fact, I'd bet that the stronger skiers bring their own gear, so its only the true gapers who are riding these things.

Something does not compute here. Are the CMH editions toned down in any way, or is Marshal right in saying that the Explosivs are not as stiff as I think?

What I'm gettign at is: do I need to look into a pair of super short CMHs for my wife?

I think they're just a nice design that is damp and can handle speed, but isn't so stiff that you need to be pro to handle it.

I've got 180 and 190 cmh's. The 180s actually measure ~177cm, are moderate in stiffness, and are quite easy to turn in all conditions yet fairly stable in a straight line. the 190s measure a true 190cm, are quite a bit stiffer, and like to go straighter and faster. Sometimes they get away from me. So I think explosiv's can cover quite a range.

what I'm getting at is: buy a short pair for your wife

most of the guests use the 173, and 180cm skis, CMH still uses them cuz it is hard to find a non twin tip fat ski. Plus I think they fear change.
