Like I make Rack of Caribou at home on a regular basis and can really notice the subtleties of the River Cafe method
    You don't?

What was I thinking..... Don't forget Barpa Bill's.

Another good one to check out is the Ranche in Fish Creek Park in South Calgary. Great food in a historic Ranch house.

Lots of other great suggestions already made here. 17th Ave.'s a good bet for Eats and Drinks. Best bet for live music is to pick up a FFWD paper around town and see what's going on.

Wow. Great Responses. Places that serve things like Caribou are just what I'm talking about. We are staying at the Ramada in downtown. Was the only place available, but looking at their site it looks like its a decent place. Stoked to see snow on the ground somewhere as I sit here in my surf trunks.

Yeah my gf is stuck chilling while I'm in class. She's putting together a new workbook/powerpoints for a Lower division Carto/web design class so she has plenty to work on, but you can only work so much. She's not a big shopper unless its thrift stores or something like that, she's a geogrpher/artist so yeah cool outdoor spots and of course music. Thanks Mags!

Still summer down here for better or worse:

Heading up there as we speak. If anyone wants to meet up for beers or other mayham send me a PM. We'll be in Banf for tonight and Sunday and then Calgary for the rest of the week.
Thanks for all the good info.

    Teatros is a great call

There are 2 ethiopian places in Kensington: Blue Nile and Marathon. Which one is better? Always looking for a good place to go.
OK its not about getting stuffed so you explode but eating a meal and still feeling hungry kinda sucks.

I haven't been to Blue nile so can't do a comparison but liked food at marathon.

err missed that - How about Wend night?? Eldo, playharder.. oh one with head in clouds ... I've got an excercise class after work so will be downtown so could stay for dinner and a few beers

Also open invite for camping the following weekend. No major construction activities has been commanded by management so don't worry about working your ass off. Just hikes , beer , etc.

DW, I have no plans on Wednesday night, but I don't know if Pura Vida would want to hang out with a bunch of oldtimers. Aren't there any young Calgary maggots willing to do the bar thing?

I did get your PM about Golden, but not sure yet what I am doing next weekend. It's my brother's annual fall golf tourney, and my sister and bro-in-law are in the Bugaboos and want me to meet them. But more important is we could get a decent dump of snow in the Rockies starting on Thursday, so I might need to stay closer to home.

If we get together on Wed night we can talk about it.

Maybe send Mr Vida a PM about Wed night and if that's a go we can do a new thread trying to rally some other people.

And unless some of the young whippersnappers are actually planning to show up, I am more into somewhere like Ceili's, James Joyce etc than one of those nouvelle trendy spots. I'd rather not get shot in some gang scuffle.

True but even if he doesn't show up remember last time a gut came up from the states , was it woody?, and didn't show well that is when I meet you and other people. ( wasn't he in jail or something?) . How about meet up in a aged bar have a nibble and a drink and see what happens. Ceili's a good choice for that.

I will be in town and can pitch a couple of hours in for din-din. I have a meeting after work for a bit, what time were you guys thinking?

I can get to Ceilis at 7 , easlier if shower after working out is not required, its in your best interest for it to be required.

Whatever you guys decide is fine with me. I am available anytime and anywhere Mon-Thu evening.

My only thought is, has anyone PMed Pura Vida to see if/when he is available?

Heh, it is starting to look like a Calgary maggot gathering, but isn't PV tied up during the day and likely won't have a chance to respond until later.

I may or may not be around Wed, but I'm in for beers if I'm here.

    Will do.

Forecast says rain and +3C in Calgary on Friday so here's hoping it dumps up high.

Mtnlion, you're getting out of town on the motorbike just in time. Have a great trip.

Checking in here from class. Ended up getting into Calgary late last night after a longer than expected stop at the Grizzly Paw. This area has the friendliest locals I've came across in a long time and we've had a great time so far. Just wish this course in Banf instead of downtown Calgary.

Anyways looks like things are shaping up. Wednesday would perfect. I'm done at 430pm, so anytime after that would be fine. Not sure where we are headed tonight, but tomorrow is the River Cafe. The menu looks great. thanks for the tips.
