    Hello from Zakopane

Only have a second. Just wanted to post while I could be considered a Euromag. Staying in an old home in Bukowina with hay stacks and rolling hills. The Tatry mountains are amazing, as is the pierogi and wild rydze mushrooms sauteed in butter. I should be 100 kilos heavier when I return to the states.

They have a big ski jumping centre there. You should go there, put some ski jumping skis on and go down the summer ski jumping hill ...

... and post a TR if you survive.

Awesome, mang, I hope you enjoy the hills where I learned to ski (the rope tows in Bukowina, not the ski jump...).

There's a big international contest here right now. Summer jumping onto a plastic surface. The skiers go just as big as if there was snow.

We took a short (6k) walk to here yesterday:

And were rewared with this view (minus the snow):

Poland is quickly leaving the 20th century in the dust. You guys should visit now before it gets too crowded. Zakopane already feels twice as crowded as it was 10 years ago. New construction everywhere.

    Sweet, thanks for sharing.

Hopefully will have to add some more from the Tatry this winter (Slovakian side though).

    Kris,

I am going to loose all respect if you dont hit up that summer ski jump. I'ts not like you might end up with a serious case of rug burn or anything like that if fall.

Zakopane is a Polish dive bar on Division Street in Chicago.

Sweet to see some pics of the real deal.
I had no idea it was in ski country. Very cool.

Is there anyone still there in Poland? I thought they'd all decamped to the UK in the last couple of years.

You gotta hope you don't get a toothache.

Heh, more pics please. I'll say please again. And this time there should be some of the Polish female variety (and hopefully not the one of the woman at the hotel front desk burning through a pack of cigs!)
