    Missoula for 2 weeks

Just got word from The Man that I might be in Missoula for 2 weeks at the end of September. I'm looking for any beta on a)good rides in the area (I prefer good climbs 2000+ and singletrack) b) where I can rent a decent bike, and c) anyone that might be interested in riding on the weekend(s) I would be there.

I searched the forum, but only 1 hit came up with keyword 'Missoula'. I've looked at maps and Google. It looks like there might be some stuff around Snowbowl.

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

I should be around then, if you want to pm me to try and set something up. There are plenty of good climbs and descents around here. Hopefully the fire situation doesn't get any worse.

As for bikes, you could check http://www.missoulabicycleworks.com/...ntals.main.htm. It looks like they have some good options

I passed through Missoula earlier this summer and had a tough time finding good riding. There are a few good trails out at Sawmill Gulch; each lap takes about an hour. Other than that, I've been told to try Bozeman.

As for shops, the folks at Missoula Bicycleworks were pretty good to me. The folks at Open Road did some really poor wrenching; probably what I get for going to a shop with "road" in the name.

There definately is riding at Snowbowl, and if you want to climb you can go up 2600' vert. There are a number of trails down the hills I think, they should be mapped on the website at http://montanasnowbowl.com though I've never been able to get the page to load (it might be my slow connection). One can also take the lift up and bomb the hill apparently (not a mtbkr myself).

Summer operation is Friday through Sunday, other days you might call about before hand , as they have been working on widening the road, and it might be closed (read heavy machinery and maybe blasting).

A friend has said there's some good riding up around Lolo Peak in the proposed area of the Bitteroot Resort. Many people ride up in Pattee Canyon too.

Ohh so close. The Rattlesnake is full of good riding. There are some really good long climbs and descents. I' ve lived in Missoula and Bozo. and Missoula wins hands down on quality riding IMO. Should be plenty of beta at any of the local bike shops. cheers and enjoy the single track.
