    Block Island fluke TR (pics)

no pictures of the actual fluke tho...

The details of the day trip were briefly gone over in Fishing Reports, but I'm bored and wanted to do a boat ride TR.
This was only a one day fishing trip and we only had the energy to go to Block Island and see what was around.
On the way out, passing under the Jamestown bridge

Yes, they fairly recently blew up the old bridge...

Now I'll head out to the pulpit to preach of the dangers of being hung over and trying to tight rope walk

    almost there...

ok, made it. now check to make sure footing is solid

more comfortable now. looking back at the bridge, through the bridge

at this pace, we'll get there...eventually

a shot of the strangest of species...the Aging Father. Careful, he's still dangerous should Sometimes Careless Son do something un-boat-like...

finally, north beach and light house in the distance

Aging Father with a seabass. "hold it closer so it looks bigger...perfect!" (we let it go...under 12.5...deep breaths.

on the way back we pull into Snug Harbor for what we thought was to be 500 gallons of fuel. Turns out tank 4 only wanted to take us to 475 before spilling on the teak. ..two weeks later,
Me - "So, dad, what'd you do this weekend?"
Dad - "I spent Saturday recleaning the teak to get the oil out and the deck lines to get the smell out..."
Me - "oh. what else is going on?"
Not the shot he wanted to take of me at that point...

The ride back to Wickford. Steering wheel, buoy and Newport bridge

Finally back in Wickford harbor with a pretty sunset.

    Total hours on boat: 13
total thickness of kept fluke: 4"
    Dogfish caught: 1
Gallons of fuel spilled into Snug Harbor: Zero, it all soaked into our skin, clothes, brains and egos.
Father son relationships ruined: Zero. Aging father rocks and I cherish the days like these we have while we're both here. plus he thinks he's a snappy dresser.
...And the greatest ice must crumble when it's flower's time to grow.
