that site's selection is awesome, but no cell phone=no free albums.

    Thanks, though!

Beatles: they were one of the last groups to move to cd too. Originally they were saying that mp3's were a lower quality, and they don't want to distribute them that way. Plus there's the ongoing lawsuits between apple records and apple computer dating back to the 80's. I think I heard they transfered the catalog to digital, but still no official dist deals.

Zeppelin - I assume this is similar reasoning to the beatles, reduced quality, risk of distribution, and all the recordings are on their own (non major) record label, Swan Song. You'll notice you won't find Bad Company's original albums on iTunes either.

AC/DC's absent, as are all sorts of other classic rock bands

Apple isn't ripping anyone off. They don't make much money on iTMS at all. The labels are to thank for that. I'd say independent artists actually make more $$$ on iTMS sales than any other format. Apple relies on iPod sales to drive their music revenue.

That said, you're better off buying the CDs from a quality standpoint.

Oink is the shit. Pretty much anything cool can be found there...but they are clamping down on share ratios and cheaters, so be careful with your invites, they now threaten to take them away if your invitee cheats.

Try http://www.thepiratebay.org too. I have also heard that http://www.allofmp3.com has lots of shit too.
