    FKNA in S.A.

Quick word from an MIA maggot. First off, many thanks to Shamrockpow for hosting this gringo on two seperate occasions. Nothing quite like arriving in a foreign place at one in the morning, making a phone call, and having a friendly face be at your bus stop ten minutes later.

Can't say too much right now, but know that South America is blowing me away. Machu Pichu, Huaraz, Chachapoyas, Gocta Waterfalls, Ecuadorian cloud forests, and, not least of all, the Galapagos Islands. A hard act to follow, but there are still plenty of miles left in these shoes.

In any case, I just wanted to fire off this post in order to send a big FKNA to all of you from the Middle of the Earth.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and almost forgot that),

I had a Gincognito moment the other night when I was jogging through downtown Seattle and "Sundown" randomly played on the iPod.

Sick and ashamed and you better take care if I find you've been... uh yeah.

That was my trip last year, minus the Galapagos. Excellent time. Good luck on the rest of the trip.

I hope you didn't get sand where you didn't want it!

I hope (for you) that this boarding experience didn't end up with you in a gigantic puddle of mud.

This is a touch late (like, say, 6 months), but here's another FKNA from S.A. This time from a quick click during a pleasant game of footie between two rival boat crews and a few of their Galapagos touring passengers. I believe the location is Santiago Island.

In any case, it could easily serve as an example of soccer pitches in the unlikeliest places. Someone should publish a photo book on that.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and a recap for those interested: came back from South America towards the end of September, had a shift in priorities (yes, a girl is involved), decided to stay in Montreal, still looking for a job, still waiting for winter to start),

i hope you had the time to hike the inca trail to get to machu picchu. it's hard to beat the place all by itself, but hiking there does it. you used to be able to get permits to sleep in the ruins at night, but i think they ended that. too bad they had to build that hotel right next to the entrance.
