It depends what side of 8 x is approaching from. If x approaches from -inf, the limit is inf. But if x approachs 8 from +inf, the limit approaches -inf.

Plot f(x)=1/(x-8) if you don't see it.

It depends what side of 8 x is approaching from. If x approaches from -inf, the limit is inf. But if x approachs 8 from +inf, the limit approaches -inf.

I'm a chemist....with a year shy on a masters chem engineering degree.......oh sibling of the shiny feline jacketed one.


My employer has geology folks too but they needed someone smart around so they hired me.

just say it goes to infinity."
In other words, DUH.
I think thats my difficulty with math, I could never figure when you had to be precise and when you could just wave your hands and say its obvious.
