Well it was Monday. The day to do my shopping at the IGA and hit the number 4 checkout register because that is where the mag rack is that Powdermag was in. So while the lady was ringing up our $130 in consumable goods I was flipping through this months issue of Powdermag. It wasn't even as thick as the stupid tremblant tourist brochure that was next to it.
On the last page it says in one box "coming in next months issue". Then on the otherside of the page "next issue on stands 08/04"
Man I really hope Bossass and DT really come back with what they say is going to happen for next year. Because normally a good Pmag issue will take me most of the night and a very good crap to read all of it. I didn't even get to the first good grunt and I was done reading it
Oh and the pics of Pierre were absolutely sick
I loved the line: "he passed out from a slight concussion when he got to the edge of the cliff and woke up in time for the landing" Well it was something like that anyway.
Yeah it was a thin issue.....having that little number of advertsiers probably doesn't equate to a high quantity of articles.
But that being said, I thought the content was great. Splats Poland article was a good read, as was the Pierre article and the Tioga Pass piece. Even though it's just a few major articles, they were written & presented well enough to make up for the quantity IMHO.
Plus I thought the pictures in this issue were just plain sick. The Tioga pics had me droolin.....all the pics in Shooting Gallery are top notch (props to Teamdirt!) and not to mention the off-the-charts sickness of Pierre's hucks.
I heard a while back that this would be a thin issue (as most end of season issues generally are) and was initially bummed, but the quality makes up for the lack of quantity me thinks.

Yes I agree the content was great. But when the Powdermag isn't as big as Freeze. That's just wrong man
And now that Skiing is trying to immulate what Powdermag used to be, it just scares me that maybe Powder might not be around in the future.
Sure I burn copies of ski/skiing in the fireplace. It gets cold up here in Quebec. It's -36C right now outside. That's -30F for you folk south of the border eh!

I'm with Ty. End of season issues are always thin and, although last year I was pissed, this year I knew this would be the last offering. The pics absolutely rocked, the stories were tight, and the layout nice and clean. And, hey, I still get a cheap thrill out of any and all maggot references.
Sick and ashamed and happy (and isn't Freeze always thicker than Powder?),
d.
While the magazine is a little thin, I thought the content was very good. However, it was damn thin. Get some interns or something to put some more dribble in there. Pictures are usually easy or no? We all love porn. Understandable that advertising dollars = thickness/content.
And I received the end of the season issue (Feb) in the middle of January. Don't know where the offices for Pow are (LA?), but ski season here goes into May. I'd settle for a March issue, but would prefer an April Spring Season/Corn Issue.
I haven't read the new Powder yet, but the Feb issue of either Ski or Skiing, can't remember which, showed up in the mail yesterday and it is just as thin (and I'm guessing has far less good content). I wonder how things are going over at Ski and Skiing? Usually those mags show up a week earlier than Powder, but so far only one of the two has even shown up.
It is the best of the year IMO. hands down. Best shooting gallery of the year too!
I've read it twice through already and looked at all the pictures at least 5 times I think. So yeah it's thin but hey Powder peoples gotta ski too right
