I was picking up some skis at the post office this spring and was talking to the guy at the counter about the shipping cost of skis to Alaska, the rates weren't too bad. You might have to ship them blank though to get a cheap rate. Dunno if it costs more to ship them from Alaska to the lower 48.

I've never shipped skis to/from AK, but everything I have sent up and down was so much cheaper with usps than any of the other shipping companies.
One thing you might check into, which I have no experience with, is shipping with an airline. Prolly airport drop-off and pick-up, but might be a good option.another Handsome Boy graduate

I shipped some up from Idaho via usps. It has to go priority air but for some 190s with no bindings I think it was $24.
