    Alta 1/26 - yummy!

I'll write more later, but let's just say it was fast and yummy. The backside was supersmooth with just the right amount of softness. So much fun - you could ski as fast as you wanted to, with no fear of hitting any bumps.

Powho and I killed it in Glory Hole. We hit Salute Chute, then Dog Leg (redemption baby!), then Harpo's, and finally dropped the skier's right side of the bench/shelf. If you're not familiar, these are all straightlines at the top of Glory Hole. The drop off the shelf scared me the most - it was a solid 12+ foot air into the chute.

I'm sure Xover and powho will have more to add to today's report.

Nice Z. I was wondering if those straightlines off the top would be doable this early.

    Cool

Dam, Z beat to the start of this thread.

I am smiling ear to ear right now. Today was one of those day that you can't help but think about and then just smile and somebody asks "what?"; no point trying to explain it cause they wouldn't get it. Only people that have jumped outta a perfectly good airplane 3000' off the deck or climbed a route on lead that is at your ability or just beyond it could ever understand.

The above is a very good recipe for scarying yourself and then thanking the good Lord above that you are still alive at the end of the day and then just smiling and laughing about it later. Much like Mica and J. Jones in TGR's flicks - not same scale but pretty damn close.

Spent 2/3 of the day with Str8 and PoHo skiing stuff that had my full attention. It feels so good to be just as mentally tired and worn our as physically beat. Plus, just when you think you know your mountain inside and out Str8 comes along and shows ya a couple of things (and I am sure he's got more) you've never hit before. If any of you ever get a chance to take some runs with him jump on it (I can confidently say he is always up to play host for a run or two); we've been skiing together more this year than ever before having super fun racing on the High T, laughing at each other and just thouroughly enjoying the amazing winter we're having. The guy is an amazing athlete (as are all Alta pros) that is skiing pretty damn strong right now - and all this after basically ripping one of his knees off his body 2 1/2 years ago. There is no doubt in my mind that before his injury he was one of the top 3 freeskiers in the world - hands down.

Anyways, back to today's report. Today was a day that people like Stoy, DTM or MD9 would've loved. So much gnarly chit went down ALL day from open to close that it was mind blowing; truly a day in the zone. Just when you think you can't scare yourself anymore, you get on the chair and your like what now - well I've been looking at this line - ok lets go git sum - and you go git it. Then just laugh at the bottom, shake your head and grab your legs to stop them from shaking with adrenaline and fear.

Also, so much stuff is filled in right now that it blows my mind that we got 3 more months to the season.

And HUGE props to Z for getting after it today ticking off alot of lines that I am sure have been on his list. He was obviously stoked.

Oh ya, DTM we got a line for ya when you get back in 10 days. OMG what a line. Str8 pointed it out. It makes my palms sweat and have to pee just thinking about it. I guarantee you that it will put the fear of God in ya - however I am sure you will hit it and PoHo and I will be laughing our respective asses off watching it go down.

The sunset tonight was crazy beautiful as only can happen at Alta; those that have seen one know what I'm talking 'bout. The drive down the canyon was filled with good tunes, smiles, views of the next storm brewing over the Oquirrhs and my knees moving with every turn as if I was still skiing - edge to edge baby.

Us Utards are beyond blessed this year. Skiing at Alta is soooooooo much fun that it should be illegal. Case and point: I nearly fell off of Wildcat laughing my ass off at my good bud that works at the P-dog after he full speed head planted into the wind lip kicker half way down Stim. Bwaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaa!! Super fun heckling him later about it. His head was stuck in the snow and his feet were waggin'; so funny!!

More good times to come I am sure; man I hate summer!!

You do that to??? Thank god I thought i was the only goof ball on the planet that is still skiing the whole way home, and if it was a really good day I'll still be skiing for days. I have gotten the strangest looks from people when I come out of the wierd trance I get in and realize how dumb I must look zoned out and my legs moving back and forth under my chair and my hands moving a little on the pole plants, but then I just blush and smile and look away, cause they will never understand.

Great report cross. You can feel the energy of the day in your words. One week from today I'll be one ridge away. It's good to know the snow will accomodate some insanity.

Boy am I glad I called in sick today! Today was tons of fun.

Got up to wildcat bright and early, jumped out of the truck threw my boots on. "Where's my shell?” I left it at home. Luckily Xover had a extra I could borrow for the day, thanks buddy.

First few laps were spent on Germ, two and three turning back to the lift. The snow was smooth, all buffed out from the wind but still light. Patrol dropped the Ballroom rope next so we made our way over. It was a bit of a mess, with some slow folks in front, it took while just to get to the rope line. Some guy dropped right in while I traversed just left. I went maching buy about halfway down.

Hit the backside next and it was well worth the effort. Get down to the 'loaf get on the chair this guy just start talking to me, it was BumZ. I came from the singles line and didn't even see him; he just ended up on the same chair. So there we were, now what to do. We decided it would be a good idea to straighline Glory Hole a few times.

First off was Salute Chute. Since Z had never skied it, I made him go first. There was about a 6' drop into it, when Z's skis left the snow I didn't even hear him land. All I could here was the flapping of his jacket as he reached terminal velocity down the 'hole. We then made our way to the dogleg. I took it down first, damn that was fast. Got to the bottom and the adrenaline was still kicking with a little Elvis leg. Took down harpo's and the shelf, bench, platue what ever it's called. Actually got that one twice!

Met up with X shortly after and we proceeded to pick around and poke at lines. Hit a fun little double drop that X needed some redemption on. Then I felt like going bigger, so I aired a nice twenty footer. The landing wasn't so nice but I only tumbled once, then right back to my feet. Took a few more runs then decided to call it a day. I'm spent...........

just wait 'til you get the "night after a good day" dreams. I've woken my wife several times making turns in my sleep and making pole plants to her side . That's what this sport is about. It doesn't stop at the mountain.

Have you ever seen the "porn" clip floating around the interweb that could best be described as "AssMilk" ?

edit: Are you implying that my peiner is some kind of coffee delivery system?

    Cool

Like the emails you don't open about "brewery bagpipe blashpeming" I don't open anything that could be described as "ass milk". Nor do I seek it out.
