    What would u recommend?

this may be the wrong forum, but i dont know.

I am looking to get new skis for this season. I do alot of backcountry skiing but you can also find me in the park. I was looking at the 2007 armada ARV's, but I'm not totallyy sure if it's the right choice. http://www.armadaskis.com/product/skis/ARV.php

I really want a light ski so i can be very versatile in the pow and have a great park ski as well.

    thanks jon

Hey, you actually got this in the right forum, props.

I have a pair of 05-06 185 ARV's. I don't ski park too much, but I have found they do well in the park, definitly aren't too wide or anything. They also do all right as an everyday ski for when the conditions aren't that great.

They are completly outgunned in deep snow, or in chop or wierd snow, especially at speed.

I'd try and find the ARV's for cheap, (last years and the years before can be found for not too much, in fairly good shape), then I would try and find another ski for a powder day/big mountain ski. As luick has it, I happen to have a pair of the 05/06 Salomon AK rocket swallowtails for sale. $300 gets you the skis, mounted at 295mm bootsole with tyrolia mojo 15 bindings. (din 5-15) They have been mounted once before for solly bindings, and have been skied less than 15 days. Wood core, and a layer of metal in there too.

So yea, get some ARV's for cheap, buy my Ak's, then you can be cool just like me and have the exact same quiver I do. (Except that I'll be buying more next year)

well if its not a good powder ski and also is just alrigh t in the park... what ski should i be looking at? doesn't matter what brand, just a versatile powder freeride ski...Also searching it on the site doesnt help to much because every site is going to boost their skis up.

also i don't have enough moola to buy 2 sets of skis...

No ski that is going to be good in the park is going to have a lot of float or stability at speed. Thats just kinda the way it goes. You know, two pairs of slightly used skis with bindings will cost less than one pair retail. Maybe just get the ARV's for now, and get something else in december.

Search on these two and you should find plenty on them. if you must go with armadas, get some ants. Aren't great in the park or bumps, but they do fine. Search them.

I've skied those blends. They are great park skis, IMO. Very versatile. Would do good in powder. They're not super fats, but hey, my first pair of "powder" skis were Salomon Supermountains and I thought those ruled it.

If you ski a lot of bumps, Go medium length. A lot of fast stuff and big mountain, go big. For park I'd say somewhere in the middly, maybe more on the big side.

The MSP Supermodel is about twice as stiff as the Mothership.

You want a ski between 180-185cm IMO.

the flex depends on your skiing style and demands, you are tall but don't weight that much so... the more aggressive you ski the stiffer you may want. but park skis tend to be softer so you can pop them more

and yes the stiffness is on of few thing that makes a big difference in a ski after you have decided length and width
