    weather station recommendation?

    i've been curious to get a small weather station that can tell me the following:
    * indoor temp
    * outdoor temp
    * humidity
    * barometric pressure/trend
    * weather prediction (nice to have)
    * time

    anyone have any suggestions? ideally, i'd like it to be around $25 or so.

    i've checked out a few options by LaCrosse, Oregon Scientific, and Acu Rite, but I'm not sure any of them fit the bill because....

    1. I'd like to mount the main device near my desk, and the window gets direct sun (meaning a remote sensor would be required);
    2. The remote sensors seem to only be accurate to -4*F...and it can get much colder than that here.

    Do I have any options? Thanks!

    I wish I hadn't throw out this catalog I get. All it is weather related products. I think the name was Wind & Weather or something like that and the company was in Oregon.It had all different types and different price points. Basically listed all the features. I would think they probably also have a website but I don't remember for sure. It was one of the few places I could find a tide clock.

    Eazy E,

    I've got a Lacrosse, but has no humidity or barometric pressure reading. It does have a trend (sun, sun w/clouds, clouds, and precip) and a lunar phase display. I got it as a gift but I think it was around $30 at Costco.

    In order to have the remote sensor work properly a lithium battery is often required. Last year mine was pretty darn accrurate down to the coldest temps, -30.

    I've got a brand new one in packaging which only has temp readings, (no clock, no nothing) but comes with one indoor/outdoor sensor which you'd be welcome to.

    Thanks for the kind offer. It's encouraging that it handles temps as low as -30. It doesn't usually get that cold here w/o windchill....maybe -20 was the lowest last year.

    I figured the humidity & barometric pressure would be nice for telling when a storm is coming in...sounds like maybe yours (which model?) does that in some way w/o displaying the pressure, perhaps. Could that be the case?

    Let me see if there's something that fits the full bill, but if not I might like just the temp sensor...if it's not getting any use for you.

    Thanks!

    La Crosse WS-9031U, it gives you a trend display using four icons.

    For example, at 1 pm when I got home today, it was displaying the rain icon when it was 80 degrees and no clouds in the sky. This doesn't mean its raining (you can look outside for that) but that is the way the weather is trending (falling barometer). Three hours later, its cloudy and looking like a strong possibilty of rain. Not sure exactly how far in the future this is reading, but it is pretty damn accurate.

    Last winter it was PUKING snow and had been for five hours. The weather channnel, radio, NWS website, predicted this would continue for another five hours minimum. My weather station was showing the sun with clouds icon, and I thought what a piece of shit. Guess what? The damn thing was right.

    A lot of weather in and around the moutains is very localized, which is where this comes in handy.

    So in short I think its cool and worth a few bucks, but the temp only one (garge shelf dust-collector) is yours for nada (what I paid). It's a Taylor brand, never heard of 'em so it could be a POS.

    A few years back my mother in law got my father in law a weather station- a pro model- for about $1000.00 for their ranch in Cody. Pretty swanky...it does EVERYTHING.

    Very enertaining to play with when I am there- beats conversation.

    I saw one at Sam's in IF for $59.00 that was working off 2.4 gigahertz, so you could put the base station anywhere. Did pretty much everything you're asking except no downloading to computer. Check their web page.
