Got one in scottsdale this summer and friends told me not to pay. Searched and found this:

    http://www.speedingticketcentral.com...ng-ticket.html

In Arizona anyway unless you have the ticket "served" to you (you give up this right by paying) then you don't have to pay. So I'm not paying being that I'm out of state and I may never be back there anyway.

Don't know how things differ for you guys, but in Alberta they just nail us when renewing the registration with a surcharge for not paying in time. Fighting it here is tough because the picture is of the license plate and the registered owner is on the hook, no matter who's driving.
Hope the laws are different for you.

Where did it happen so I know not to speed to meet up with you for that beer we have been talking about for 3 years?

Yep, calling you out on "sure, I'll show up for a beer".

I hate those things. Whenever I go by a photo radar van I either

    (A) Make a really funny face at it
    (B) Stick up the middle finger
    (C) Stick up the middle finger and make a funny face
    (D) Try to duck really quick (not recommended)
    (E) All of the above

    I say fight it.

What the heck is a photo radar ticket? Living in the hills too long I guess? We just got another stop light, that makes two of them now...3 miles down the road.

Can you tell them you don't like how you look and ask for another?

    fight it.

i've learned that one can get lucky more often than not. unless your out of points and they can revoke your licence if you lose (v. a plea "bargain"), there's little to lose.

last time out i got a ticket for 80 in a 65. couldn't really dispute it, but pled not guilty. showed up for court, had my name called first (a first!), before i said a word, the troopers told me i had a clean record and they'd let me go on a $45 non-point violation. took my receipt and had been in and out in 15mins. was ready to spend my entire evening there...speechless!

though w/a photo ticket, when there's no arresting officer per se, there's no officer to not show up for court.

but i say fight it anyway...these setups work best for the authorites when they can simply get guilty pleas+checks in the mail. every challenge clogs up the works!

Go see the justice of peace next time you get one, they usually are nice enough to knock it down a bit at least. I heard they don't take demerits off tickets anymore (which doesnt matter for photo radar tix, since it's a registered owner ticket so theres none anyways) but they'll still usually cut the ticket down a significant amount if you have a good enough sob story.

I was recently driving on mississippi to get between university and colorado and when I saw the flash I made a uturn at the next street and came back and parked across from the van. I asked the guy inside some questions about how it worked and how fast I was going and when to expect a ticket and I acted fairly bewildered about the whole process. He told me that he would erase it and I thanked him profusely. That was probably 3 weeks ago and no ticket yet. Never fought a ticket before. good luck.

    This morning... Montview... Westbound... correct?

edit... if you have a clean record, show up in traffic court. It'll be reduced or dismissed.
edit again... early afternoon... 17th ave westbound?... I forget where I saw that damn van today.
