TR: Germany and Switzerland Trip (NSR)

With all this talk of jongs not contributing to the community and what not, I figured I would try to put something out there. I apologize in advance for the total lack of skiing and snow. First TR here so pointers will gladly be accepted.

The family and I went to go visit the rest of the family in Germany. We flew into Stuttgart and made our way to the tiny town of Lichtenstein in Baden-Württemberg to stay with my aunt. We stayed a week with my aunt's family and then headed to Nürnberg to stay with my mom's aunt for 2 days. From Nürnberg we headed to Ansbach and stayed with my mom's cousin for 5 days. After that we headed to Switzerland for a week and stayed in Kandersteg. It is absolutely gorgeous in the summer and I heard that there is some pretty good skiing there in the winter. The town is really close to Interlaken which has stellar waterfalls. Anyway after that we went back to my aunt's house for one last week and then came back to the states. I love it over there.

The area behind my aunt's house. There were some really good MTB trails and trail running trails.

The town of Münsingen from above.

An escape cave carved into the cliff face underneath the Lichtenstein castle. This was a really cool design and you can see by looking up it is right under the castle.

    The Lichtenstein Castle.

    An old ruin.

    Some random blue flowers.

The city of Bamberg from above.

A hotel in Nürnberg. I think those arches are pretty sweet.

The restaurant that my mom's family used to own. Die Schwarzer Bock.

The family in Kandersteg. I'm on the looker's far left in the Dodgers hat.

Crazy rock formations above the Oeschinensee. I regret not taking the camera on some more of the hikes I went on by myself.

    Our hotel in Kandersteg.

My uncle and me at the Schussenrieder Brewery.

    Keeping the Budvar cold.

The church in Zwiefalten where Zwiefalter Bier was first brewed.

Kandersteg, nice! Did you go on the car train?

I spent many a week in Kandersteg when I was but a lad, the cross-country was fantastic

Yeah, I was ask how the Germans felt about you sporting some US military gear? I'm sure it was fine in Switzerland as long as you didn't shout or sing after 10:00pm on any given night.

We were going to take the the car train, but with all the hiking we were doing we kept pushing it off because we heard it was contaminated by Ripzalot The one day we were gonna take it it ended up being all overcast. The day I most regret not bringing the camera is the day I hiked the Lotschenpass. It was probably the clearest day we had while we were there.

Hayduke we didn't go to Ludwig's castle this trip, I think I went when I was 7 or somewhere around that age. I dont' really know the whole story there but I do remember having to wear those silk slippers when you walk through it.

Yea he is I have a lot of good memories with him.

About the sweatshirt I totally forgot that I brought it. I'm trying to think if I got any dirty looks or obscene gestures when I was wearing it but I'm drawing a blank. I'm sure they were thinking I'm just another ignorant and arrogant American.

    Oh well...

Hey givebackbloom are you actually in the Navy?

If not AKPogue is going to be all over you for pulling that kind of crap. Apparently he was in the Navy or the Marines or perhaps the girl guides or something and it's a very sore point with him.

    Nice pictures.

    Well played TR. Cool picts.

Makes me psyched for my visit to Austria over Xmas - New Years.

Seeing German towns and how they are surrounded by green, agricultural areas is something I wish the fine planners in the US had studied a bit before they came up with the brillian concept of Suburban sprawl.

Good call. It makes for a better lifestyle IMHO.

AKpogue doesn't know my real name so he can't really know for sure if i was in the navy or not, but i guess if he found out my first name he could tell.

No I'm not in the navy.
