Too fucking early for this thread yet. I also realized my last post on this page was made from the Pyrenees in Spain. Damn time flies.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
never too soon.....
ROLL TIDE ROLL
This thread was stupid to be made at the beginning of August and it is just as dumb to bump it at the beginning of August now. We had 60s last week in JUly and it's back to high 80s. OMG... I SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE TURN LAST WEEK! It's fucking August, aka, the second hottest month of the year shitheads.

I don't think the turn is necessarily weather related. It is the beginning of thinking about what new gear needs to be acquired and anticipation of hitting the slopes this upcoming season.
I was in Alberta last week touring about and seeing relatives and my uncle said the turn in the weather was two weeks away where they live, so it is close. Flying from Vancouver to Calgary, there was tons of snow on some of the mountains still. I was sure jealous of the people that lived under my flight. In my area, it was 91 yesterday. It never gets that hot until the peak of summer in September for a few weeks. Off to the beach with the pups, while it is still cool. Think winter.

34 degrees this morning.....
ROLL TIDE ROLL
I was driving over wolf creek pass last friday in a rain/hail/snow/sleet storm. There was a solid 2 inches of accumulation on the road in places. Definitely felt like winter was coming.
Yea yea its August but I felt it two mornings ago. I get up really early for work an walked outside in a tshirt like normally and all of sudden was blasted by cold air. Before I could even let off a first shiver, I saw myself taking the first turns of the season.
It's early but we're getting there
Turn happened today at 4.25 am PST.
It's official!
Celebrate the " Turn" with a new ski purchase...I just happen to have a pair of Spatulas for sale...PM me.

The turn happens daily in San Francisco...
Honestly, if you are in tune with "real" skiing, as the OP mentioned way, way, way back, you keep the feeling and philosophy of "The Turn" going 24/7, so there is no turn, but instead constant forward movement.
^^^^^^Do you have pics of this cave? It sounds pretty cool!
There were patches of new snow on quandry today.

Turned, and looking for the straight line over the spine into a full blown season with trips to CO & and to Tahoe to see my folks and a ski reunion with my friends who stayed, another to Cham if possible otherwise it will be Canadian Rockies. Even bought a pair of Katanas that are due tomorrow waiting for my guardians and skins and I'll be just like Harry in Blizzard Of Ahhhhh's. Haunting cold sweat type dreams of sessioning with buddies and ripping over kids half my age. Driving up to the mountain on a whim and ripping around all day. I started sleeping in my mummy bag just for practice to get used to it again. My god I've been ready since August, hell I was never ready for last season to end. I was still waiting for it begin with a late spring miracle but never got my wish.
But hey the Mayan Calendar will probably make it all for not anyway....... right?
Forecast looks like snow at the house Thursday night.

Cold and frosty overnight at higher elevations over Labor Day weekend. First rain in like 50 days yesterday. Wearing a jacket in the morning now. The Turn is here, but significant snow is still probably a long ways off.
...Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain...

The problems we face will not be solved by the minds that created them.
Bump for The Turn officially hitting the plains of Denver and the North tonight. Supposed to drop to 35* tonight and low's will stay around 30* through Saturday with a chance of snow. 6" possible in ND and MN. I've been waiting for this since July, can't wait for the cold mornings.
