Weather here in southern california has been mediocre at best! Bad surf, and the water is facking cold (Like 50's cold). Is this a sign for things to come

I'm with you. I've still got a couple of summer activity projects to knock off. I'll take my turn on a dime on Nov 1. Stay summerish til then.

Leaves are turning gold around here. Fire season didn't happen, and the forecast is for highs in the low 60's next week. Baker should see snow above 8000' on Thursday. Probably just a trace, and not worth hiking for....yet.

Last year I made my first powder turns in the first week of September. I'm going to try to match that this year.

I'm there. Well mostly. Did some ski repair [all of the do-list is done] and ordered up two new pair. One for inbounds and one for toruing. I've sworn off the gear-whore thing for a while, but it seems I've fallen off the truck.

    Bring it!

    hell yeah it is !

i was watching the breck cam - http://www.brecklivecam.com/(turned off today) - yesterday and this cloud brought a whole bunch on snow which turn the slopes on peak 9 from green to white.

now, its still 60 in breck, so that snow lasted about an hour; but i'm still counting it as my first witness of the turn.

I proclaim the West coast will have a bonus year. How do I know? Simple I will be working a construction job in the Woods this Winter. I'm screwed.

Fuck mountain biking, I want to ski.

I've actually been skiing more than biking. July, I was stoked on riding my bike, but that was overruled with the presence of snow. I also watched my entire ski movie collection in July, so I'm ready to ski real snow. Enough with this August crap-snow.

Hey, JBOD - that was one psychic post. You might have established a surf/water temp precursor for killer winters.

    How you doin', mang?

It is that time of year again. Felt it turn over a week ago and yes, warm days are not gone but they are fading. In the high country the vine maple is turning. It is coming.

dustings in the canadian rockies the last few days (at ski hill elevations. up where the glaciers are it hasn't stopped snowing all summer, it seems)

i've also been thinking: summer can't be over without one of 666's new zealand threads, can it?
