I'd rather ski it than run it - thats for sure.

My buddy has worked that race at some of the stations & said the runners were like zombies in some rythmical trance. & that if you didn't finish before dark on the second day the psychological impacts were heavy/out there.
Also there were all ready some racers camping for the summer at high elevation & training up there (Ophir pass) when we were there (along with butt-loads of snow) back prior to mid May.

In 2006, the course will be run clockwise - a big loop through the San Juan Mountains of beautiful southwest Colorado: Silverton - Ophir - Telluride - Ouray - Sherman (Lake City) - Silverton, 100 miles, 33,000' total elevation gain, 11,186' average elevation, low point 7,680' at Ouray, high point 14,048' at Handies Peak.
