We lapped the Alp bc 8 times today. Smilin' ear to ear, face shots a pleasant memory....Pics and report will follow. just got home. I'll be back there Tuesday.
Originally posted by pollard didn't see that this morning. stevens was sweet today. there were threee maggots up there today. think thats a record for stevens.
not true. at least one other there too (myself)..if it was on saturday, anyway. I was a guest of some friends, so I didn't want to pull the "change for a nickel" thing in liftlines, although I was thinking of it. Decided that being made to walk home because my friends found out I was a wierdo looking for internet friends didn't sound so cool.
there were at least 3 nickels changed,
not sure how many maggots were there for sure though.
longest lift line was 10 minutes and that was after luch crowd got back on the hill... so not to bad.
I was able to get out of bed early enough to get a run in with the dog (thx to z-bo for the skins) and still got 3 runs in big chief trees (totally untracked and over the shoulder shots in places) before 9:15.... Started to head over to the meet spot, saw the cattle call at hoggs chair, and decided to hit double diamond...mmmm sweet smooth as butter mostly untracked all the way to the base.... it's been too long I think, as I proceed to the join the masses at the base area
Rallied the crew and made 4 really sweet power line runs before Jupiter Chair started to clog up... headed into shimms some got the nice wide open turns, others of us opted to go for the really sweet three turns left of shimms, so we could get stuck in trees too tight to do anything but sideslip down the 150 or so vertical feet to where it opened back up again
Headed up on 7th to lap some short ones, catch our breath and then on to Solitude and beyond for a run through the trees run to the car for lunch.
Poked around a bit after that, and once 2:15 rolled around, everybody else stopeed skiing (or so it seemed) and we were abe to get in several morelaps of freshies...
Hero snow all day long. Nothin but smiles and nods in the lift line.
Haven't had that over the shoulder feeling since opening day.
yo rehab, I was in the backside glades all afternoon long. You might have seen me - camo jacket and pants, morrison long-boards, giro flint helmet w/ white oakley goggs. Other than a few wrecks from exhaustion, pretty fun
Actually, I was there too. I ran into HotButteredRum in one lift line. I got a bit of the b/c tour from some friends of mine. we were astounded by how good it was and how few people we ran into back there. Pretty killer day!
Well, I drove by it last night, on the way back from Mission Ridge. Lovely Mission Ridge where the ice had a solid 0.5" dusting on top from three days ago.
Figures. After two weeks of nothing, I get to hang around a poorly organized, crowded kids race while others are getting the goods.
