    Shooting in Seattle (NSR)

    A mentally ill man opened fire at the Jewish Federation offices in Seattle, killing one person and injuring five others, including a woman I know. Based on the ages of the shooting victims, she would be the one they're describing as "shot in the abdomen." Very sad day. Now I need to call a few people in hopes they don't see it in the paper first the way I did early this a.m.
    I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.

    additionally, I hope your friend is ok. I don't want to attack you personally, I'm just pissed about how this stuff gets covered. Maybe I'm reading too far into it, but history of "mental illness" seems to be a not so thinly veiled history of "hating jews/israelis".

    Anyone who does something like this is, by definition, mentally ill.

    Some bizarre and scary shit going on around here lately. The woman and her daughter who were killed while hiking, for example, and going back a few months the guys who killed all the ravers on Capitol Hill.

    That hiking one is bizzare and kinda scary too. Who kills someone on a hiking trail?!?! I'm glad that these cases are anomalies. The news here seems otherwise not so morbid, unlike most big cities.
