Any Rossi or Dynastar - I have my choice, but which would you choose?

I am a dedicated Volkl skier.

However, through a business deal, I now have my choice of any Rossignol or Dynastar ski. I'm confident most people are going to suggest Squads or Legend Pros; but, it's a wide open field and there's lots to choose from. What ski would you choose?

dynastar will have a similar feel to volkl I think.

Pros or XXL for fats, 8800 for all mountain

189 Squads (or whatever the exact length is that's right around there), 'cuz that's what I'd pick. The 194s I demo'd were fun, but in reality, probably a bit long for everyday use.

Legend Pro if you don't already have a ski like it; probably more versatile than the Squad.

Unless this deal requires you to ski them, since you would prefer Volkls, get the most expensive ski, ebay just under what it retails for and get yourself a ski you want. I like some rossi and dynastar skis, but figure thats one more option.

    he's a volkl rep...

...don't think affording skis is an issue, probably just wants the most fun bang for the buck possible here.

isn't the 189 the pussy "soft" flex? the 194 is the unadultered version, no?

194 isn't even firmer than the 184? (why more than a handful of folksneed it, i'm not sure.)

When they say 'any', do they really mean any? Seems like Squads and LP's are sometimes not considered in deals.

B4's make a good touring ski, as do scratch bc's/sickbirds.

firmer than the 184, i dunno if its got any extra beef than the 189, i'm sure its in one of the squad threads somewhere. 184 is kinda explosive-stiff from what i remember, and 189 is burly as hell

My 184s are burly as shit, but perhaps I got some pre-production version.

I've owned LPs and now Squads.

    Go squad.

    Yo, Bossas.

    Whaddya like of your 184s?

My im103s are utterly drilled, screwed, duct taped and epoxied together atm, and i dont know how long they will last next season.
Was thinking for the 184s as a replacement..

    Why?

    -100:ish dimensions.

-More sidecut (huh?? i know, just looking for a ski that you can ride on the edge a bit more. with 103s the speeds are always mach looney when you put the ski on the edge)..

    -Relatively stiff.

    -Never had rossis before.

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

Scratch FS's or Troublemakers, with p10 risers.

Okay I'm sorry I had to. The general conclusion is Squads.

i'z purdy sure the 194 is even stiffer, which is re-damn-donkulous.

(in another thread, i related the story of how we had to break my friend's ski, essentially, to make them rideable -- and he is a phenomenally strong skier.)

184 sounds like a good ski for mortals...but is it too short for you, inspectorgadget?

Does this deal go for binders, too? Because Dynastar is coming out with their early tram series- which are basically the big mt. skis with Naxos. So if you want an AT setup...

    spector,
As you know I have been on Goats for the past 2 years.
Last spring I was able to snag a pair of 189 Squads and I Love them.
I have a new pair of 07 Goats on the way, via Volkl warranty and I am not sure what I am even going to do with them after skiing the Squads.
Anyway snag a pair of Squads in the 189 for those high speed days.

Considering I'm somewhere between twenty-something and a wheelchair, the pussy lengths (184, maybe a 189) are the only lengths I would consider.

Now, Plakespear brings up something well worth considering. Thanks N.

I skied the Squads last year and liked them, but I haven't owned a pair of Rossignols since 1981. Unless I wind up with a touring rig, as wisely suggested by Plake; the reality is that you'll likely see me listing a pair of French skis in Gear Swap.
