    Help out a biking JONG

Well about 12-7 year ago me and my dad and then later just me were big time bikers. I would bike on trails, fireroads, Rail to trails, around my town, and also do some BMXing.

Recently I have been getting back on my now to small Schwinn Moab, and have started to looking at new FS XC bikes.

I still own my Haro BMX bike(has held up very well) and was wondering if Haro MTBs are any good. I did a search on Haro bikes on this site adn the only thing I turned up is the plakespear(get well soon) owns one of these and seems to like it.

I really wanted a FS as the trails around here are filled with roots and such and remember my old hard tail being quite a challenge on this stuff...but if think that something around this price would better off being a hard tail let me know.

Thank in advance for the help

There are SO many threads right now with advice on FS bikes for newbies to the sport. Just scan through through Sprocket Rockets and you'll find tons of good advice.

here - I've even added links now...

This time of year you local bike store will have good deals, but from them and you get the service, but online, and get ????

spend $1000 min, hydro disc, 4ish " travel, full suspension, and get clipless pedals, shoes, tools, helmet, camelback

go ride a few and see what you like, I'm a fan of garyfishers, they are comfortable.

edit: hit me up when you're around Allentown, well hook up for a jaunt and a brew.

serivce of a local store can be priceless.

if you buy the bike online and want to swap any parts when the bike is new, no problem (seat, stem lenght, grips) .....

If the hydro line comes pinched ...... (you have to wait for a new line, and pay for the install of it)

If you have a strange noise from the bottom bracket ..... (they can fix it but will charge you)

most offer a few tune or a few free tunes, The bike will need them after the cables strech.

If you have some mechanical skills not a big deal, but if you just want to ride, and have someone take care of the rest, LBS can be worth the few bucks more.....
