Question Internet Legal mags need advice ASAP

Ok I need some advice here. First off I am not of the suing kind. But my tremblant website was down for a day. Whenever anybody went to it a porno search engine came up. Just ask Corky

Now my server webcentre.ca suspended my account because of an error on their part. Just an invalid domain warning or site temporaily unavailable should have come up when they suspended it. Again do to their error. But porno websites came up instead under my www.tremblant-insider.com domain name.

Here is where it sucks. I recieved several emails from people chastizing me how my site went porno. I also lost two local restuarants sponsors today that were going to give us $500CAD each towards production of the "Normalcy" documentry Nils and I are producing. Part of the deal with their sponsorship was their banner link going on my Tremblant site. Well they saw that porno deal yesterday and dropped us like a hot potatoe. Do I have any recourse against webcentre.ca over this?

Not a legal type, but here's my thoughts anyways:

Start off with nice freindly dialogue. Explain the situation to the sponsors and try to reason with them.

Also, get a appology letter (or email) from webcentre confirming that the site got switched to a porno site. Do this before you start threatening legal shit or they won't do it. Two reasons for this; written admission they made the mistake, and b) you can show it to your sponsors as proof it wasn't your fault.

Get it in writing from the sponsors that they dropped you because of the incident -- you can use the letter to prove that you suffered a loss.

Maybe try to convince webcentre that they now have the "opportunity" to get thier name on a charitable sponsorship.

In all though, your best bet is to convince the sponsor to come back. And get a new IPP, linking your domain to a porn site was serriously unprofessional. Unfortunately, with the $9/mo webhosting crowd, reliability and professionalism are not usually included..

edit to delete the working a compassionate angle on Bell bit -- they're actually heartless assholes.

Just tell your spancers that hAXxorZ got into your interweb and sliced your shit. The domain admin just got around to nuking their asses. Nothing is fucked dude.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

    Thumbs up

    Look on the bright side-
Maybe you'll pick up some sponsors if they like the porn.

Gut their admin with a rusty spoon. They'll know you mean business.
