Coudveil or Eider?

My two choices of new jacket(because we sell them at our shop) are between the RPK and the Commodore. I'm torn and need to have my hand held and led in the right direction. I had a Arcteryx theta ar that I liked but it was too long in the waist and a bit to backcountry-esq. I like to go bc but don't feel the need to look like it all the time. So whose had either of these 2 jackets and what do you like/not like about them.

I've got an RPK-I like it, really heavy duty and seems to be waterproof-but if you're looking for something breathable, look elsewhere

Eider makes good shit. I skied the comadore for a few seasons, till the zipper blew out. Their proform used to be one of the best deals out there. Stuff runs way small. Not very long in the back although their pants come up high.
No knowledge of other jacket.

I've got the Commodore, it's a very nice jacket. The XCR breathes really well and the jacket is better made than the Marmot I previously had. The Napolean pockets are large and the hood swivels well and stays out of your face without a helmet due to wire (or something) in the brim. I'm sure the hood would fit over my helmet, I just haven't had the situation warrant it. The one time I wanted it to it didn't because it was cinched down to my head size and I didn't feel like messign with it.

On the downside, it doesn't have a powder skirt. The elastic cinches down well, but I still get snow up the jacket. A pair of bibs would solve the problem (I think) and that's what I plan on for this winter. The lack of the powder skirt makes it seem a bit more BC/exertion focused than resort to me. That's my only complaint with the jacket.

Since you carry them I assume you can try them on, in case you cannot, they run small. I'm 6' 170lb and wear a large (medium in 'merican brands). It does not fit 'steezy'.

Thanks! I was already leaning more towards the RPK, the commodore seems alot like the jacket I got rid of. Eider is a new brand we a picking up for the winter but haven't got our stock in yet, so I haven't gotten to try in on/check it out.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about all the Cloudveil gear I own. The only two downsides are:
1 - price (I've been lucky to get my stuff at sample sales or through work, so that turned out OK, and it sounds like you'll get yours on form);
2 - the cuff "retainer" (the velcro attachment) has peeled off of every CV jacket I've used (4, to date). It's not a huge deal...the fix takes 5 minutes with barge cement (+ 12 hours to cure), but it's annoying.

The jackets perform quite well.

Can't comment on the Eider brand, but the RPK is a nice jacket.

Personally, I ride with daily (Nov-April) with my Koven + layers underneath, depending on the weather (-20 to +30). I also use my Serendipity softshell extensively when it's warmer.

(I have other stuff for spring/summer.)
