    Exclamation Google pwns my life

    • Gmail- primary email client for all addresses.
    • Google Calendar- how did I ever live without it?
    • Google homepage- keeps my deli.cio.us links, headlines, rss, and everything else
    • Froogle- best deal finder ever
    • Google maps- fast, easy, intuitive, symantic searches
    • Google earth- single coolest product released in last year
    • Google scholar- first choice for academic searches; now used before pubmed.
    • Google Talk- now required by my department for communication
    • Google Mobile- directions, phone numbers, all in the palm of my hand
    • Google Desktop- keeps track of files on my computer, instant indexed searching

Very impressive domination of my life.
    It's idomatic, beatch.

I've got gmail, google personalized home page, google maps & earth, talk, and froogle.
You have a blaring omission - google reader for your rss. then put that in your homepage..

I tried google desktop, didn't like it. Not a big fan of calendar, either..

Google reader is in my homepage.

I love Calendar and don't know how my life moved forward without it.

Oh I forgot- spreadsheets. I'm already using it for my rental unit expenses.. which I just "share" with my CPA.

where would we be without google?

I still use outlook for a calendar.. which syncs with my Q..

This thread is worthless without bacon.

I too use Gmail and dabble in Good Earth and the Calendar etc. Part of it worries me though, Google knows everything about you now, who you call, when, what you say and who you say it to. They keep all gmail messages on a huge searchable server. Keywords are taken from all those services and used to advertise to you via Google Adsense. Ever wonder why Yahoo e-mail doesn't require your phone number when Gmail does?

I'm not a paranoid conspiracy theorist, but its all worth noting. Google owns the world, and hey, I don't care.

You are the target consumer for their plan to rule the earth. MSFT did so by locking us into proprietary, crappy technology on our PCs, and Google is now leveraging the Internet to deliver similar world domination to the masses. Only difference is MS = you (or your employer) paid lots of $$ to use their crappy software vs. Google = advertisers pay lots of money to "capture your eyeballs" and generate "deep click through" of their sites, products and services, which in turn allows to use all their on-line apps for no charge (for now).

ugh. I have long love/hate relationship with Google.

Nature of the SEO biz. I love them because they put food on my table and drinks down my throat (literally)...

I loathe them because so many clients (present and past) are so obsessed with getting traffic from Google that their business will literally, live or die by Google's whims. that part really sucks...

there's a lot of cool web/PC products that Google has put out, there's also been numerous flops. I have the advantage of seeing/hearing about them long before they ever hit public domain too... but I just don't use them all either, and to be perfectly honest, yea, I don't like them knowing everything about me, and what I'm doing.

That said, I have many great friends who work for google.

I also, am or have been, the proud owner of a good 10 or more Google T-shirts, 1 beach towel, 1 beach chair, 1 lava lamp, 1 bean bag, and countless other Google swag, been on a couple of Google sponsored booze cruises and other drinking/eating events, and have attended 4 Google Dances at the GooglePlex, one of which they hired Ozomatli to play at, and co-founders larry and sergey have mingled at several others. and this year's 5th annual event is shaping up to be the biggest ever.

I use most of those, plus Google Notebook for apartment-shopping.

Also, I didn't have to give up a phone number to get Gmail... isn't that only if you can't get someone to invite you?
