What's your plan of attack, east or west?

I was planning on camping in that area anyway this weekend. What's a few more pounds for ski gear?

    Picture date?

Well….I have a free day to play and I’m not a mountain biker or boater. Day hiking could be ok but why not just carry some extra weight and try to get some turns too.

Pic was taken on July 7th.

Coming from the west should be easier than the east.

I think starting at the Wrights Lake trailhead and staying on the summer trail to Twin Lakes would be a good bet too.

    Saturday....

Tempted, but if I can do it, I need to be back in the Sacramento area by 5pm or so.

Unless you could do it Sunday instead....

    Yo nate,

    Saturday only.

Back in Sac by 5pm might be doable…6pm probably more realistic. I definitely want to start EARLY.

    Hmmm. I might be interested.
I was thinking about Lassen or Saddlebag on Saturday, but you know that I am a big fan of patch skiing.
    How long is the approach?

The Crystal Range is on the south end of Desolation Wilderness. Deso runs North-South along the west side of Lake Tahoe. The trailhead for this particular spot is about 15 miles west of Echo Summit on HWY 50 (aka HWY Fiddy).

Probably 3.5 miles to snow (so roundtrip there would be 7 to 8 miles of trail walking).

This is a different Twin Lakes. The Matterhorn Twin Lakes is over by HWY 395, this one is by HWY 50. Bummer about your board.

I think I saw mcpheet's car in south shore today.

    Had some mantras on it.
