Iowa City has some good rides. I can't remember the name of the trail, its in mount liberty, close to I-80. Try searching ICORR(Iowa City off-roaders or something like it) Some sweet single track, for Iowa. The campus has some good urban potential as well.

check out www.icorrmtb.org The place I was thinking about is called Sugar Bottom. Its close to the highway and worth doing. There are more technical trails in Dubuque, Ia but it is about 1.5 hours from Iowa City. Damn I'm glad I don't live there anymore! Nothing like having almost 20 miles of interesting trail in the entire state!

There are some decent trails at Platte River State Park and Mahoney State Park in Nebraska. Both are right off of I-80 and are located along the Platte River about halfway in between Lincoln and Omaha.

You'll need to pay to get into the park (about $5) but they are both good places to ride. They're probably not what you would expect to find in Nebraska... nice hills and pretty dense woods. Their proximity to the river makes for some nice vistas too. MTBR.com might have some reviews and more info on the trails.

The 5 years I spent at UNL may have been hell for my skiing habit, but these areas kept my mountain biking habit somewhat indulged.

I did a really, really fun road ride in Iowa city as well....rolling hills, no traffic, friendly drivers, good times. I also did a little urban on the campus, I never found the singletrack!!

I-80 in Iowa is great, what are you talking about?

Visit the worlds largest truck stop while youre there.
Its big and in the middle of no where.
I dont understand where all the workers commute from other than REALLY FAR AWAY.
