I wasn’t going to post and have not read much, but WTF is wrong with the UN??? Why can’t the world make it work? It sure seems like a good idea and you would think a democracy for humanitarian needs and getting rid of bad guys (No, I am not talking about having different beliefs, just people who kill/intentionally de-grade quality of life) could solve a lot of these problems. “The World’s Police” accusation/role shit is really getting old, on all levels.

Israel owes what is stole from people in 1948 plain and simple. Just as the swiss banks owe the Jews for stealing their money. If you were to take away the US funding Israel wouldnt be able to keep their heads above water. The solution is simple leave the settlements　In the west bank and give some of the money taken during the civil war back. Shut your boarders to the cheap labour that you need and you have a start.

After reading the history lesson above, I have to wonder, why is it that regardless of where they lived, the Jews have managed to make it a habit to piss off their neighbors so much as to bring them to genocide.

I'm not an anti-semitic nazi...just a curious amateur historian trying to figure out why someone can be so freaking hated.

Any amateur historian can figure that out.

On while we are on the subject, I think many of you need to go back and read splat's post at the top of this page. I am mildly appalled as a Jew of some of the statements put forth by maggots that I thought I respected. A little sensitivity here and there to a very sensitive subject could go a long way. Maybe opening up your eyes, learning about other cultures, and not jumping to conclusions (which I am guilty of too) could go a long way to starting a better understanding of why this is such a heated and emotional topic.

What is also especially scary is how much of some of you need to be reminded of the HOLOCAUST. This does not bode well for mankind as those few survivors who remain, are getting up in years and soon we will have no living people to remind us NEVER TO FORGET. i think it is time that some of you a) went to the holocaust museum in D.C. or b) watch Schindler's List or the Piano and then tell me why you believe that the Jews shouldn't feverishly protect their right to exist.

When you are tossing around "camel jockey" to make your point, it's ironic that you want to tell me "racism goes both ways". Where are you planning on taking the readers of your posts when you 'go there'? Is it for shock and pushing buttons, or do you really believe it wholeheartedly?

My point was, your saying "I'm Irish" is not a pass to say your family was not complicit in what went on. It could also mean your ancestors were plantation owners. The Irish Echo can hardly be compared to the KKK as a source of racist info, but whatever. I'm getting that brick wall feeling.

Since this is so far off the point, I'm going to concede that we're not going to get close to a full understanding of this issue in the mist of a thread on the lack of peace in the Mid East.

This topic brings up alot of things but it is about time the news reported the true nature of the region. We are finally getting more balanced coverage of the facts. Terrorism depends on the side that you are on. the arab family that sits at home and gets blown to bits is collateral damage. reverse the situation it and its terrorism. both sides use terror tactics and guess what its not working.

You'd have to go find them in Spain or France, they went back home in the early 1800s. Most Irish prisoners ended up on Barbados, but then you'd have to take it up with the English.

You are not even close to being right. You are forgetting(or selectively ignoring) the fact that the terrorist's are targeting civilians. Israel is dropping leaflets telling civilians to stay away from certain targets. This is all over the news, how have you missed it? If you haven't missed it, how can you draw a moral equivelancy between people who target civilians and those who try to avoid civilian deaths while accomplishing a military objective?

Which is generally referred to as 'returning fire'. it's not israel's fault that the palestinians place their bomb factories and rocket bases, deliberately, in the midst of civilian centers--similar to during the intifada when they would shoot and throw stones from behind walls of women and children, guaranteeing good propaganda when soldiers returned fire.
