    Is it World War III

It could be the way this Isreal/Hamas fight is going on. Now Syria is talking tough. Isreal is in Lebanon now with airstrikes. Isreal has mobilized all of their reserve forces.

    This could blow up huge.

I'll say it's WWIII when Iran steps in to aid Syria or Lebanon. As for North Korea, they'll just open up the 3rd front (Afghanistan and Iraq being the others). I just hope this doesn't impeed my hopes for getting out West this coming season.

The day Hamas got elected I knew the fighting that's going on now would just be a matter of time.

    N. Korea isn't gonna start shit, they're just chest beating IMO.

I believe that WW3 would begin with a soccer riot. Funny how this shit begins right after the World Cup...

WWIII was the Cold War. IMO. This war against Islamo-fascists coupled with the Israeli-Palestinian dust-up could very well turn into another big one.
    Somebody needs to nuke Iran.

And religous zealots, let's not forget about that.

Another reason reason to love religious fanaticism.

    puh-leez.

Syria will reign in hezbollah just as soon as israel buzzes Assad's house a few more times, and the government in lebanon, while not in control in the south, has no interest in seeing a real israeli invasion. nor does iran need the huge problems it would cause itself by inserting itself into any of this.
At some point the palestinians may start to realize that hamas won't do them any good, but until then they'll continue to never miss opportunities to miss an opportunity. it's just too bad for everyone that their last election went the way it did, but i guess it's the inevitable result of a culture that venerates suicide bombers. And long after israel leaves Gaza (again) there will still be a lot of infighting there--how that resolves itself will determine what the palestinian territories look like for the next few years.

I don't think so but it would be WW IV.

Based on previous threads, WW III is between you, TJ, and your future ex.

Of course, you're assuming they think as rationally as you over "there."

Could this be an opportunity for the U.S. of A to sidestep out of Iraq quietly?

I wasn't really assuming any mode of thought, just observing what has become accepted.

As for this providing an opportunity to leave iraq, i don't see how that's possible--especially not under Bush who has pledged, repeatedly and recently, to stay to the 'end'.

It's about time we just tell isareal to deal with it. Why should we keep supporting them, when they are constantly picking fights and pissing off the rest of the mid east.

Personally I think we should nuke the shit out of the entire region, get rid of all of those angry fockers, turn the area in to a giant parking lot made of glass, and cap it with a really really big oil derek, with a pipe line going straight to the US.

Or for just once, we could stay the fuck out of it and mind our own god damn business, but unfortuanly the dip shit that is currently in office isnt that smart.

The UN won't do any more than it's ever done--nothing.

As for bombing the whole area, i think it's a great idea--right after we nuke nyc and DC for starting that shit with osama. Some brilliant minds at work tonight.

I think if the mid east had powder days (not gunpowder) everybody would be much happier and play nice. We have an Elvis Day at Mt Rose. You could have a Mohammed Day and Moses Day and a .....well, we have Xmas and Easter already.

Its so easy for us to sit here in our big safe country far from any real danger and throw stones. The politics of that region are so complex I doubt that the people involved can even wrap their minds around it all.

I wanna smack people who say things like bomb'em all back to the stone-age.
