    Good Deal on a Roadie?

First off, I'm a road bike JONG, but I'm looking at getting a roadie mainly just to get some riding in between mt. biking sessions with an occasional century thrown in here and there. I came across a 59cm Yeti Road project for $750. I'm trying to figure out if this is a good deal or what is an appropriate offer if it's overpriced.

According to the owner, it's a 2000 model with campy mirage, Rolf Vector wheels, Time Colnago carbon fork, 1500 miles, no pedals. Picture attached.

If anybody has any other opinions on it beyond the price issue, that's always appreciated too.

Cool frame, but he's asking too much I'd say.

Interesting how much lower the bars are than the seat, considering it's a triple.

Seat tube and head tube look pretty steep; does it handle OK for ya on a downhill?

Looks like that guy definately got a frame too small. Got a long stem, ton of spacers, and has the seat rammed all the way forward on the rails.

What's the thought with the bar/seat height difference in relation to it being a triple (guessing it has something to do with climbing)?

I haven't taken it for a ride yet so I'm not sure how it does on downhills. The guy says it's a 59cm bike, but I should probably take a tape measure with me if I go to check it out. Of course, if he's 6'5" that might explain things.

That position isn't exactly famous for comfort. If a big guy was trying to make a budget triathlon bike out of a triple, that looks like what he might wind up with.

Reposition the saddle and I'd probably love it to climb with.

You may be able to ride the bike no-hands and get some idea of how twitchy or stable it will be at speed or when you're exhausted.
