So far I'm diggin' it, though my time on it has been limited. I wasn't riding much before the wedding, and now the 888 is at Marzocchi, so...

However, I've done a little of everything on it, and it rips. It's super poppy off the jumps at I Street, completely different than the Bullit. It ripped on the DH at Bountiful and DV. The rear end is so much stiffer that you can really rail it through the turns. I've noticed no flex at all, so you can really push it. I've also XC'd it at Moab (UPS and Amasa Back) and the Crest. While I wouldn't say it's really suited to this type of riding, it does it no problem. It'll climb like a tank as long as you stay way forward and don't mind the a lot of front-end wandering on steep stuff.

Fit-wise, it's about the same as the Bullit, though the cockpit feels a tad-bit shorter. The added wheelbase makes for a bit more stability, and (to me) it feels lower than you'd expect given the numbers, though this is coming from a guy that's used to high bottom brackets. I'm comfortable enough though that I think I'll eventually swap the 7" 888 with stock crowns for the 8" w/ flat crowns and the same rear shock rather than getting a shorter fork (66 et al) and the shorter rear shock.

The only thing that has taken some getting used to is the progressive nature of the suspension. Where the Bullit used all the travel all the time (and felt plusher) this thing ramps up noticeably. It's not a bad thing, but very different than what I'm used to, so I'm still adjusting. I'm also still tweaking the rear end, figuring out that you need very little air, and almost no bottom out resistance on the DHX.

Go figure, I've ridden his bikes for the last 12 years and he comes to town the year I switch to a different brand.

Where do you plan on taking him?
