You know, I didnt seem to mind any of the politics.
The crowd did suck however. F'n HUGE!

Micheal was cool enough to play a few tunes during the sound check at 5pm that was class IMO.

In all I'm stoked I went!

you cant piss on this thread.

last year we saw mf in anch at the bear tooth theatre
my bro and i were puffin out across the street in the rei parking lot , when michael came out of a coffee shop, barefoot, with his girlfriend....
they walked across the lot, and stood on the side walk right in front of us , hugging and kissing his gf, as traffic wizzed by.....
we continued smoking and thought that was really cool
i guess he made a live album from that show
i still love his song television

all issues with his shows and politics aside...MF is a pretty cool/down-to-earth guy when you meet him. an ex-gf of mine ran in a social circle he was connected to, so we came across him from time to time at birthdays and other random stuff.

he was always just a normal person in those situations.

last i checked, though, he was married (for a long time...to a not-so-attractive (to put it *kindly*) woman....), which we always found cool. did he finally ditch her? my ex-gf was always impressed that he stayed with her even when he became a "star".

caveat: i like some of his tunes and am not down with others (and am generally not a fan of the talking segments on his albums).

hey, for those who like their recorded music live,
there's about 320 franti shows for free, artist-sanctioned download here:

    http://www.archive.org/search.php?qu...20Spearhead%22

some great overtly political bands/artists (minutemen, fugazi, dan bern) and hundreds of others have shows posted here (over 3000 dead /phil/ratdog, butthole surfers, camper van beethoven, cracker, little feat etc, etc)...mostly high-end recordings...

spent way too much time downloading shows a couple of years back, but now just check in for new additions of interest every few weeks or so...

First off, I seen Franti a few times, and last night was amazing. People who don't like Spearhead worry me. Honestly. How can you be turned off by his politics when it is all so positive? I don't fucking understand. Anyway, last time I saw him it was free too, up in Park City during Sundance. He asked us "how was your year this year?" I replied "Pretty awesome!" He went on to say that it had been a terribly rough year with the war, the natural disasters and all sorts of terrible things that he honestly felt affected by. It kind of made me realize how disconnected I was and am from real world problems.

Well, fuck your mellow. Fucking yuppie hippie hazebrain douchedrain. Franti rocks!

Frankly, people like this worry me.

What's with the animosity towards people who aren't digging on MF/Spearhead? I've seen them 4 times as sidebills, and while they bring a lot of energy to the show I find that the 'How You Feeeelin?!?!?' and the overt political messages/statements in EVERY song to be a bit repetitive and over the top.

    Fuck your prejudice

Don't worry. The 'flying hawaiian' thinks he's really something, skiing on rockhard ice with Spats. He gets mad when people question his intelligence, but that's how he rolls. He's totally stoked on being a stupid ignorant cunt, but he's really something. If you don't believe me, just ask him.

And REV- you need to meet PHISH before acting all butthurt. He's about as cool as they come, and knows his shit about his music. Quit hating.

You are right Blurred. I am, as you so well put it, a stupid ignorant cunt. I think it looks better like this though: stupid-ignorant cunt. I do get mad when people question my intelligence, but I'm not a fighter, so I typically choose to further prove my superior intelligence with shit-talking. I think hyphens make me seem smart. Be careful about asking me if I am really something though, I am likely to explode for no reason and storm off down the street, angry beyond being satisfied by gun use, and emotionally weathered beyond my years. Do I find it ironic that the most ferocious personal attack I have ever been met with on this board comes out of me talking about a concert I found to be the most happy, uplifting, positive, and motivating show I have ever seen? Yes, just a tad. Am I surprised it came from you, BlurredElevens, captain of the douchebuckets? No. [/dp]

Funny how you snipe on a person for a while, and when they snipe back you seem surprised. Goes for you and the rest I've flamed with. Duh.
