    camping forums

i thought this might be a good place to start asking...does anyone here know or post on any good camping related forums? is there even such a thing? i kinda want to start getting out there and doing some camping, and none of my friends are into it, at least none in the area, so i want to meet new people and see if anyone wants to do some camping.

I used to frequent the forums at backpacker.com , obviously more backpacking related than camping, but people are friendly and there is a lot of good stuff for newbies as well.

Maybe BobMc could start a forum on his www.outdoorsinutah.com website.

I was recently looking for something similar. I ended up just doing searches on the particular location I planned to visit. AAA does have camping maps and books, but they're just full of data rather than any editorial content. trails.com has some stuff, but you have to pay. They are having a two week free trial though, if you want to check it out and print out some Topo maps. There is one called campingforums.com but it is totally lame and has no participants.

I actually had one Tipp, took it down a few weeks ago. I got tired of deleting a bunch of bots every day. Thanks for the plug though!

Lightweight backpacking forum... just remember that some of fhese gram counters carry 5lbs packs because they live in temperate regions. Good site though.
