Yeah, cause their appearance on MTV Unplugged and resulting album were sooooo non-sellout. Please.

I actually kind of dig this show, and I'm a horrible music snob. I like the fact that this season is a new band, not an old band trying to replace a member. Sure the players are rehashed, but is it really that big of a deal? Gilby Clarke is a really good guitarist, Newstead is an awesome basist, and Tommy Lee is a good drummer. Maybe Tommy isn't the best ever, but he can cut it for sure.

Oh and to me, Dave Navarro is pretty much beyond reproach. Sure I didn't agree with him about Storm last night. But no one can dispute that he's a great guitarist and was a member of one of the most influential bands of the last 20-30 years (Jane's Addicition). Plus I love his honesty. He's not afraid to give people props when they do a good job, and his criticism is always honest and constructive.

Also, I like that fact that most of the singers aren't plotting to undermine each other (Dilana being a slight exception). Evidence of this is how they work out the song selections. No one's really gotten in a fight over anything. It's always been settled peaceably. They pretty much get up and do their thing and let their work speak for itself. That's cool in this day and age of reality shows where everyone is conniving to kill the next guy.

I generally hate reality shows but there have been some awesome performances from some of those people. Lukas doing creep was freakin dope. Ryan covering losing my religion was amazing.

The original Supernova song they played today sucked though.

I generally only watch Tuesday's show. The elimination show on Wednesdays bores me. So I checked out the new Rockstar tune on youtube and I take back everything I said. Dilana is perfect for them. That song sucked donkey balls.

I knew Storm, as she was my bartender @ my old local, the Rat & Raven (RIP), in SF's Noe Valley neighborhood. First day I moved in (Sept '95), my roommate and I strolled down to the Rat for a pint after moving all day.

Up walks this tatooed rocker chic behind the bar, she burps in our face, and says "what will you white boys have?" - my roomie first says "nice burp, real lady-like" sarcastically, and Storm replies "yeah, you should see my penis!" - we knew we had a good bartender then....

We used to come into the Rat on Sunday nights, bring in burritos or pizzas, and watch the Simpsons with her @ the bar...she was always entertaining....

I had no idea she was on this show (I am adamant about not watching reality TV) until my old roommate called me up a few weeks ago and was like "dude, Storm is on some reality TV show with Tommy Lee and Dave Navarro!"....too funny.

The first half hour tonight was a He said She said reality TV. What a dissapointment. I just keep switching back and forth between the show and the news. If I was not so curous to see who wins?

Very dissapointed, its like watching a bucth of highschool kids.

Yep, probably the only reason I even watched this was because of the lack of reality show squabbling. Keep this up and I'll be back to watching nothing with live actors again.

Last night's show was hands down the best of this season and last season. Everyone brought their "A" game.

I wonder what song "the band" will perform tonight. They should come up with better tunes than the pop rock crap they played the past two weeks.

My new favorite is Toby. That guy's been bringin' it the last few weeks. Lukas' voice is starting to annoy me. Dilana's has since day one. Ryan is just too fake for me. Storm is meh.

I just think Toby would kick ass with them, provided they can actually write a decent song as opposed to the swill we've heard so far.

What about the Icelandic dude? He's worried if he's in the bottom 3 tonight he will be the next to go, which would be a shame because he's one of the top 3 IMO. But I think Supernova & Navarro like him and didn't think he should have ever been in the bottom 3. I would say that it's between Toby, Magni and Dilana at this point. I predict Storm Large to be the one saying adios tonight, but wouldn't be surprised if it was Lukas. That Ryan's a poseur, but they seemed to enjoy his antics on the piano last night, even though he was drowned out by the house band in many parts of Clocks.

If Toby doesn't win this thing, it's cause he will be too much competition for Tommy in the lady department. My thinking, if I am an aging rockstar with a shitty new band that will probably put out only one album and a tour (riding the high after the show), then I want Toby up there. He will pull the hot chick demo, and let's face it, that is what it is all about. Their songlist ain't gonna get the crowds. Having your pick of Toby's rejects would beat the shit out of sloppy seconds from Lucas or Dilanna. Storm, well she might bring out the hotties, but that might not be the type of chicks Tommy is looking for. Plus, I don't think she is talented enough. If I see her make one more stupid hand jesture in the background, I might have to slap her. She will be gone tonight. You just don't bring the strongest guy in the competition out to back you up on a song. It shows how much better he is than her. He sounded better, and he only had a bit part.

Oh, and as for reality shows, I am with you. I really hate them. This is different. The drama shit is stupid, but these folks can sing. This is American Idol for the cool kids. It has just gotten better and better, minus the bullshit drama. They are singing really good tunes, too. The Supernova song sucked, but I could see it being pretty good on the radio. It is amazing what they can do in a studio. Not my type of music, but I don't think I am their target audience.

Hopefully they're waiting on a singer to bring some life into the music, cause really Jason Newstead and Gilby Clark aren't the guys that I'd associate with their respectives bands sounds and drums only go so far.

I loved Newstead with Metallica. He layed down some killer bass lines for them. While Burton was the man, Newstead was far from a toss in replacement.

However, Clark came about during the shit years of GNR. Izzy was the man. i always thought of him as a young Keith. Gilby was just another axe.

TL should have dumped both Ryan & Dilana last night solely on their elimination performances. Ryan was so over-the-top it was comincal. Dilana was a self absorbed, self gratifying mess. What the hell did she do to that song? David Byrne oughta bitch slap her for that.

It's looking like a Lukas is going to take win in the final reality showdown. Guess this will be better than frying wings @ Hooters. Too bad he can't sing a word of any song he performed. Mumbled, yelled, gargled, yes....sing, no. Does anyone ever understand a word he sings?

Since when do rock singers have to be understandable... Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, etc.

All of the sudden Storm is my favorite. A few weeks ago I wanted her gone. And now Dilana is a mess and Storm is killing it.

Lukas just annoys me. He's good, I just don't like him.

    Touche
Point taken. I didn't care for them either. /sacrilege/

    .............................

After last night, I agree Storm put on a good performance. But it is clear, if the band wants a front man that gets the audience involved, is personable, can lure the chicks, and can sing, there is only one choice. Toby. evs

Who's gonna win tonight? I believe it's the finale. I'm hoping for Magni as I think he's the most talented overall, but it'll prolly be Toby.

Toby has better stage presence, but Lukas looks stranger than Tommy Lee.

    So I'd say it's a toss up.

    My list:

    1) Toby
    2) Magni (a very, very close second)
    3) Lukas
    4) Dilana
