    A Scanner Darkly

Anyone else looking forward to this? I'll be there Friday night.

Richard Linklatter directed (who I love), based on a story by Philip K Dick, done with that same animation thing as Waking Life, and music by Radiohead...

    Yes.
    I heart Keanu
I'm just a simple girl trying to make my way in the universe...
I come up hard, baby but now I'm cool I didn't make it, sugar playin' by the rules
If you know your history, then you would know where you coming from, then you wouldn't have to ask me, who the heck do I think I am.

damn Trayc, so much respect washing away...
    washing away.....
    this looks intriguing as hell.
hopefully the multiple other charecters and strong story telling can overcome Keaneau's "whoa" method of acting

You have to understand honey, it's a physical thing.

    Just saw it today.

    Whoa.

As a PKD fan who has read the original book several times, I was impressed. I felt that the movie was true to the spirit of the book, as well as its story.

A lot of reviews complain that the characters aren't sympathetic, the plot is confusing, the conversations don't make sense, some of the scenes don't go anywhere or advance the plot...these people have completely missed the point. Let me spell it out for them: EVERYONE IN THE FILM IS HIGH, INCLUDING THE NARRATOR, AND NONE OF THEM REALLY UNDERSTANDS WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THEM AT ANY GIVEN TIME. It's clear that these reviewers have never seriously done drugs or spent any time in the presence of the chronically drugged, because the behavior and dialogue rings true. The bicycle scene, for instance (lifted straight from the book) is absolutely perfect.

Ironically, Keanu Reeves' constant look of vague bewilderment, which ruins most of his movies for me, is absolutely appropriate for Bob Arctor's disintegration. The only time I wished he had any talent was on the voiceovers, which fall flat without any emotion to animate them.

I Flippin HATE Keanu,he's more wooden than pinocchio's dick while he looks through a antique ship building mag.I was absolutely livid when I heard that no talent hack was going to be in a PKD movie.

That being said, I've been a PKD fan for a really long time &,I've always loved this book ,& Robert Downey jr. is a super gifted freak or a super freak that's gifted. I like Linkletters work as well.A friend has seen it 2x's & really liked how disturbing it is.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing it.

Been looking forward to this for a while. I dig the weird animation over live film style. Didn't know it was music by RH though, that is sweet!

saw the other night, def the best film adaptation of a PDK story(not that that is saying much of anything, since most are bastardized homogonized poop). Downey was great as was Rory Calhoone(sp?). Keanue was the prob the best i've seen him in a move(which again isn't saying much).rotoscoping was pretty cool for the hallucinations and the scramble suits.

blade runner is good as a stand alone flick, but they ruined the PDK story.

looking forward to the movie. i love PKD.

re: keanu - his sister has leukemia and has been coming to switzerland regularly for some specialized treatments near geneva. he stays at the beau rivage (top hotel) in lausanne when he comes to visit for several weeks at at time. our friends' daughter heard about this and went down to the hotel and passed a note/letter to the staff to give to him. the next day, he actually called the girl and arranged to have her and her family come down to the hotel to meet him. he hung out and chatted with them and signed some swag for them. kinda cool for such such a big celebrity, eh?

I really liked this film! Keanu didn't ruin it amazingly enough. Cockrane ,Downey jr & Woody were flippin hilarious,The direction was great,it was pretty true to the book, the animation was a trip.I went & saw it again when I talked a friend into seeing it. I'd like to see it one more time on the big screen before it's gone.
