    WWMD: 130mm fork choices

OK, getting close to picking up a 575... and have several fork options to choose from.

    1) Fox Vanilla -- standard fork from the Yeti "enduro" kit
    2) Fox Float RLC -- $50 upcharge
    3) RockShox Revelation 426 -- no-cost upcharge

Which would you choose and why? MTBR reviews on the RS Revelation have been very positive. I haven't liked any RS forks I've tried since the Mag 21 (Judy, Quadra, SID, Duke... and more that I can't remember), but the Revelation is supposedly very plush, easily tunable, and equal to the Fox forks in stiffness.

On the Vanilla vs. Float -- Vanilla = coil sprung and smooth; Float = air sprung and therefore probably more tunable. Usually coils mean more weight, but these forks are very close in weight.

The post-SRAM Rock Shox forks (Pike, Reba, and now perhaps the Revelation and Lyrik) are worlds ahead of the older designs that you listed. It's like they were made by a totally new company that just happens to have the same name.

I haven't touched the Revelation, but I bet it's worth trying to find one and taking a test ride.

That's what I've heard about the newer RS forks. They went into a long period of suckiness, and now are supposedly good-to-excellent. Add the Psylo to the list of RS forks I've tried and hated.

Ron - I'm 6'0", currently about 195 lbs , but hope to be back around 180ish by the end of summer.

    Update... never mind.

Trigger pulled on base "enduro" kit, getting a black anodized 575 w/ Fox Vanilla fork. Wound up buying the bike from a shop that wouldn't do a wheel or fork swap, so I'm stuck with the standard kit's mediocre wheelset... oh well. The price was around $300 less than from the shop that was willing to do a wheel and fork swap deal, so it's worth it.
