So I won skis and bindings

I filled out a survey at Stevens Pass this past season and ended up winning a pair of skis! The skis and bindings just arrived yesterday. They are Head iC160 Railflex in a 170. The bindings are Tyrolia SL 10 Railflexes. This is definitely a carving ski at 64 mm underfoot. The question is would I ever use this setup? At 170 I'd say they're too short for me at 6'2" 185 lbs, but maybe not. Maybe I'll put them on gear swap.

Anyone have any opinions on this ski? Here's a review I found from Ski mag: http://www.skimag.com/skimag/buyers_...ski217,00.html

    Meh.

Save them until fall and sell on eBay or gapic and buy some gear you know you'll use. Nice score, though.

At 170 they are way too small for you. Maybe a 180.

Sucks that they just send them to you, without even asking what length or anything.

You might have better luck unloading them on EpicSki.

Yeah, I agree. Skis aren't exactly one size fits all, after all!

There probably isn't a huge demand for a ski like this around here, but it would probably be a nice, cheap setup for an intermediate skier who doesn't venture off piste much.

just bring them a shop and exchange them for a longer length. or if you sell them, post here too: http://forums.epicski.com/forumdisplay.php?f=10

Swapping them for a different length is a good thought, but I think these skis are a couple model years old. The shop wouldn't be able to swap them with the exact ski in all likelihood, so I doubt they'd take them.

170 in a carving ski is reasonable. At your weight, I think your main problem will be the DIN 10 bindings. The SL toe really isn't what you want if you're 180# and a good skier.

I'd sell them in the fall and use the money for season tickets or other gear.

Its beyond me why you'd even think about keeping these unless carving some Deer Valley fresh corduroy is all you have on your mind. Sell these, and get some skis with a waist. They'll carve fine to. Anorexic skis suck.
