    Primal Quest Insanity

Just thought I would throw this out. PQ is going on right now, and it is a really crazy thing.

One of my best friends is down there and I am following his race, and the web tools are really amazing.

At this point Peter has been going for 4 days 12 hours, and has traveled 250 miles. I have followed his GPS dot online and found a couple times where they slept for 2-3 hours, but not much.
--last night I had to watch the stats as they got lost for 30 hours and couldnt find 2 out of the 3 checkpoints......rough (but happened to lots of teams).

The two teams I know are Aquan (Peter above) and True Grit...both sitting in 40s for place.

Check out the GPS tracking and the Leaderboard (shows disiplines and times).

Ya, it's crazy for sure. I spent the night in Moab last night. When I was driving back from dinner--like at 9:30, I saw guys out on the highway headed toward town. One dude was carrying his bike on his shoulders. At the time, I thought just THAT fact was wild. Then this morning I learned that peeps on the highway were about 2 DAYS behind. I too am stoked to see team CB doing well. From the stories the Moab locals were telling, those teams have to do some pretty insane isht.

At 6 days 10 hours, Aquan is in 23 Place......337 miles.

I guess there was a canyoneering section that ended up being brutal.....115 degrees on the ground and team were getting destroyed. The race organizers cut it out half way through the teams (due to so many medical issues)....so everyone that wasnt already in there got "short coursed".

Aquan was in there when we heard this so that was kinda stressful......until they made it out 30 hours later. Cant wait to hear the stories.

One section that sounded fun was rappelling 450 feet down off Gemini Bridges.

My peeps' team, Ya Mule, found that their horse named "Turtle" ended up going lame in the middle of the fucking desert.

Man, who could have seen that coming?

I've been following it too. Pete only got lost? Good. I thought somebody got sick or hurt. I kept waiting for them to complete CP 19 and 20.

I know him too and can't wait to hear about it. Pete is the navigator too... doah!...

I just watched Primal Quest Utah on the tube.

    TOTAL INSANITY.

I'm green with envy, because I could never do anything like this on my best day. I take my hat off to all those who competed.
