This is probably a rerun, but I was surfing some tablature sites and one of those "download such and such program" pop ups came up and I accidentally clicked yes, instead of close. Now everytime I open a website, a pop-up comes up.
Anyone know any free programs to eliminate that program? Anyway to tell which one it is on my task manager?

a program from Lavasoftcalled ad-aware might do it. Its free and works very well.

I guess you're set, but a warning about ad-aware: it scans your registry, and can mess it up. Make sure you back 'er up *before* running.

What I don't know about computers would fill a lot of books. I downloaded and installed ad-aware. Do I have to keep it open on the taskbar for it to work automatically or is just having it on the computer all I need? Sorry for the dumbass question.
On the bright side it found 80 things and quaratined them and the computer seems to be running much faster.

I got McAfee for $20 (w/rebate) at Costco...was using AVGuard, a free checker. McAfee seems to work well, and downloads/installs updates automatically. I had all kinds of stuff (keystroke logger!!!) on there that I had no idea about...

You may also need to update Ad aware every few months from the Lavasoft website.
