good luck getting a ski lake tahoe ultimate pass or a california gold pass for 1300... more like 2 grand ++
Back in the day, that was referred to as the "growers pass".
Here is a link:
California Gold Pass
Last season's price was $2450.
Only 15 days at squaw allowed this past year... seriously cut down on my borrowing people's gold's for mammoth trips this june![]()
Plus, with Gold Pass, you gotta get a ticket from Special Tickets office every morning. That's a problem only if you want to get in lift line early on powder days.

Also consider a multi-pass plan instead.
I will try to ski every day next season. Budgeted/saved for Gold Pass, but changed my mind after reading the details (15 Squaw days is not enough!). Decided instead to throw that $2500 at multiple passes. Keep in mind that Gold Pass is transferrable, while most other passes are not.
Come up with your own multi-pass plan. Here's mine:
- Squaw midweek pass (no weekends/holidays)
- Rose Value Pass (weekends included, no holidays)
- Heavenly Limited Pass (weekends included, no holidays, plus 3 tickets at Colorado resorts)
- Considering Alpine midweek pass (I have a $150 gift cert I gotta spend there somehow)
- Will occasionally pay for single discounted tix at other resorts (Sugarbowl, Kirkwood, Mammoth, Rockies, Alps)
The only ridiculously priced one is the Squaw Pass. For single tix, slidingonthecheap.com will display all the discounts/deals in Tahoe.

You might be thinking of the "ski lake tahoe pass." I had that pass for 4 years in a row ending a couple years ago. You get a picture ID, so no needing a ticket each day, Kirkwood, Sierra, Heavenly, Squaw, Alpine, and Northstar. It used to be around $1700....which was a smokin' deal before we had all these pass wars, cheap alpine tickets etc. However, I decided against it a couple years ago, when they jacked the price to $2500 or so.
Ok. So hmmm well I'm not going to spend $2500. So what I'm thinking is maybe Kirkwood, Mt Rose, and the Squaw midweek or discount card.
Try to find discounted tickets for the other places I quess. Hey Skier666. Did you get the phone number of the cougar in the trailer hitting on you?![]()
ski lake tahoe was for sure the best pass back five years ago... when it was 1650. Having full squaw/alpine access is the shit. But you think about a full squaw pass at 1399 and full alpine is 779 - 2178 dollars.. full northstar 289...2467.00 dollars for all three north tahoe passes. Do you really want to pay full price to have all three passes? If you live on north shore you don't go to heavenly kirkwood sierra more than a couple of times a winter... pass worth even less if you live in south shore (kirkwood 469 , heavenly 518 , sierra 699 (?!) 1686 bucks. Nobody really frequents both north and south tahoe resorts on a daily basis , so this pass has priced itself out of being worth it. If you go to squaw/alpine everyday , you'll be the closest to making it worth it $ wise.
edit - kirkwood and mt.rose / squaw pass just doesn't make sense , unless you don't mind driving a shitload.

Dude I've paid $1200 a year for the last 5 years for skiing Tremblant. That doesn't make sense.Originally Posted by guermo

You're paying for all that snowmaking there. I grew up in NH and then went to school in MI. In Michigan they sometimes use their Zambonis to groom the hill. I don't miss it much. Football was good though!
I used to have a pass at both Alpine and Flatstar. I gave up the N* one because I just didn't go there enough. I'd only go when we had races there and that was only a few days/season. The place is so mobbed on weekends that its just not worth it. Alpine is hardly ever crowded, even with the cheap passes. Plus there's so much terrain thats just a short hike from the summit.
Well I got curious and decided to do a little research.

^Homewood offers a $99 Mon.-Thurs. pass
~Kirkwood unlimited corporate quad passes are $349/ 10 free days at Durango/ 5 discounted days for friends at Kirkwood.
I only included Tahoe area resorts above.
Here a some other California Resorts:

## Mammoth passes get you half off at other Intrawest Resorts. Also a few bring a friend cards for midweek deals.
I'll let you do the math on the number of days to break even on each pass.
If you bought one ticket at each of the 19 resorts listed above it would cost $885.
At $2450 for a California Gold pass you would need to get in at least 50 days to break even.
You might be able to mix and match a few of the above passes at a better price and take the $ difference for lift tickets and a maggot summit trip. You can decide what works best for you.
P.S. Next season I'll have passes for Mammoth/June (I got in on the MVP deal), Kirkwood (Corporate Quad), Heavenly (Restricted), and Sierra at Tahoe (6 Day). These are the 5 resorts closest to home for me.
This will get you 6 days for ~$42 with a couple Squaw and Kirkwood days.

It used to be an 8 pack, I did it the first season I was in Tahoe to sample a number of resorts. Last season I did Rose and Sugarwood which is a pretty good deal for 3 great resorts. Next season is Rose and Squaw Mid-Week.

Flatstar is aptly name and the parking is now horrendous. The ONLY good things I can say about that mountain in winter are
great terrain parks
very wind sheltered; when other mts close Flatstar may still be turning

Rick, for a person living on the Tahoe North Shore or the Reno area that seems like the Best plan. That covers the best and most reliable sking on the North Shore.Originally Posted by ski_rick
TJ, Where you get passes for really depends on where you are going to live. We are spoiled here! most of us just want a pass for a nice area that is close to home. If you live in Incline or Reno Mt. Rose makes sence, If you are closer to Tahoe city then Alpine/ Squaw Valley are closer.
Also remember that the Cheap 349$ pass for Mt. Rose is only on sale during the month of September, the normal pass price is around 800$
