This one seems particularly absurd after reading the article. Whether he did or didn't, we'll probably never know. But this account is pretty ridiculous.

That is pretty lame.
Isn't Frankie and OLN guy? Wonder if this will hurt his 'career'.
I can't believe we haven't bombed France yet.
He does do some stuff for them. He's also the DS for the Toyota-United Pro team, but I doubt it will have any play there...who knows.Originally Posted by lph

Yeah, but he does more than some stuff. he has been on the sidelines for OLN at like what 4-5 tour de france in a row? (correct me if i am wrong)Originally Posted by Telephil

"Le Monde said that Frankie Andreu, who raced with Armstrong for the first two of his Tour wins in 1999 and 2000, gave a similar deposition last October, also alleging that Armstrong told the doctor that he used EPO, testosterone, growth hormone and cortisone."
Not to mention, he and his wife are divulging information from a conversation that supposedly took place b/t a doctor and a patient (while they were present- you would think to lend support to Lance.) granted, i don't believe there is any legal confidentially that was breached. But, ethically that is just wrong.

I am completely objective... I love to bike for my own selfish reasons and
I don't follow Lance or the Tour de France with any passion..or at all.
Yesterday, I listened to NPR, or here in Vt., VPR, and heard the story of Frankie and his wfe's testimony. I came out a believer that Lance did, indeed, take these performance enhancing drugs and only admitted to the doctors that he did so because his life is/was in their hands. I am under the impression that he felt he could die and it was time to come clean if any of this information would be beneficial to the doctors. His mistake , if he really wanted to conceal the info, was to allow Frankie and Betsy to stay while the doctors asked him questions. Betsy actually suggested they leave when these doctors arrived but Lance said no, it is okay to stay...
Apparently Frankie and Betsy had been very good friends of Lance........they have nothing to gain by making up reprehensible lies...they come off as having a conscience that won't allow them to lie under oath. Lance on the other hand had/has millions and millions of dollars in the balance as well as a reputation to maintain.
Anyone else hear the NPR version?
If it weren't for serendipity, there'd be no dipity at all
If this is true, why didnt the doctors record anything that Armstrong said in their notes? The doctors have testified as well that nothing about illegal drug use was said.Originally Posted by train07
Its a case of your word against mine. Frankly, I dont care. If Armstrong did dope in 1993, or 1996, I could care less. He still remains in my mind an amazing athlete.

I do not question Lances' superiority as an athlete..but there are morals and ethics and .....LOTS OF FUCKING MONEY (plus his life was at stake)
If I were "juror", I would need to listen to all stories. I have only listened to this particular radio report.....

I heard the same NPR report and came away with the feeling that there's something weird about Lance's "friend" Betsy. She claims the docs weren't Armstrong's usual docs, she doesn't remember the names of these unknown docs, and no doctors' notes say anything about illegal drug use. Another thing struck me as weird, "friend" Betsy's claim that Armstrong encouraged her and her hubby to stay during the consult. I find it hard to believe that an elite athlete, even one with major cancer problems, would have encouraged people to stay while he confessed to two underling docs about his alleged illegal drug use.Originally Posted by train07
I have no idea whether Armstrong took illegal drugs. It does seem that Betsy's and her hubby's (another person was in the room, too) accounts seemed a little odd. The testimony made me wonder if these people had some kind of axe to grind.
The NPR report didn't convince me one way or the other.
Keep it off my wave...Soundgarden
Train, by your word against mine, i meant the docs word against Frankies. Sounds like either way, its a case of hearsay.
What I dont understand is shouldnt this testimony be sealed? Why the hell is Frankie going public with this if its an ongoing case? This reeks of all the other half assed alligations in the past if you ask me.
That Betsy character is a strange one...who records phone conversations, really? And Lemond? Its no wonder american cycling has a bad/no rep, its full of people like this.
We need some Cipollinis in america, i want some cyclists that stop midrace to have sex with podium girls. Thats the kind of controversy I want to hear about.
no worrys... i knew what you meant.Originally Posted by CantDog

Oh, c'mon, what's the first rule of law? Shut the fuck up. Don't say anything. Deny. But don't lie under oath.
Of course he did EPO - didn't everybody? But he obviously stopped BY THE FEAR OF DEATH and started a whole new era of cycling with his new body and regimen. Maybe someday we'll hear the truth, but I doubt it.
Just to set the record straight- it wasn't podium girls, he skipped a lap of a circuit race to visit a brothel.Originally Posted by CantDog
But cycling needs another Cippo. The only drugs they would find in that guy's suitcase would be roofies...
