    TR: Kootenai Creek, MT

Rootskier and I got out early this morning and ran a local favorite creek, Kootenai. It had been a few seasons since I had truly done any creeking. So despite being a bit nervous (felt like I had worms in my stomach), I decided that I needed to get back on the horse and go for the ride. The creek is about 10 minutes from the house, so it don't get much sweeter than that. We walked up the trail and did the "upper" section. If you want you can do multiple laps on it pretty easy. They rate it a class IV, but it felt more like a V to me.

Everything went well, beside smacking both elbows pretty good. Time to buy some moto-X elbow pads. The creek is pretty dang steep and has some nice slides in it. I ran the 8 foot drop clean. But below that, things were not as pretty. I was rusty in my boat, but I stayed upright, just ran one drop backwards.

    Sorry no action photos

Kootenai Falls, about a 8 foot drop

Looking back up towards the falls (its the top one)

Downstream view, a few of the nice drops

I only had like half an hour, but I got some serious elevator shaftage. I am going back in the morning...there will be video forthcoming if I can get decent rides - I was consistently getting like full on underwater 3+ second rides, and I was pretty much flailing. So if I can dial it in, I think it can dish it out. I am so fucking stoked right now.
