Rootskier and I got out early this morning and ran a local favorite creek, Kootenai. It had been a few seasons since I had truly done any creeking. So despite being a bit nervous (felt like I had worms in my stomach), I decided that I needed to get back on the horse and go for the ride. The creek is about 10 minutes from the house, so it don't get much sweeter than that. We walked up the trail and did the "upper" section. If you want you can do multiple laps on it pretty easy. They rate it a class IV, but it felt more like a V to me.
Everything went well, beside smacking both elbows pretty good. Time to buy some moto-X elbow pads. The creek is pretty dang steep and has some nice slides in it. I ran the 8 foot drop clean. But below that, things were not as pretty. I was rusty in my boat, but I stayed upright, just ran one drop backwards.
